Hi all, Do you know that following Russian high-speed train last year was proposed, but not it`s published and produced? The same applies for all other models in this folder. (Reason was probably bankruptcy). You can found this model (and more)in the Märklin ''Globetrotter Neuheiten 2009'' folder, which was never published. At least as far as I know. The folder can be download here: http://mlankhaar-modeltr...Prospekt_2009%5B1%5D.pdfSincerely, Martijn Lankhaar

That ''Globetrotter Neuheiten 2009'' folder was an April's fool joke, created by some model train fans. The Märklin comapany nothing to do with it!
It was published on April 1st, 2009.

Milk glass windows were no longer state of the art in the 1960ies, they let the engine look simple and primitive. Even the model of the German V200, which was released more than ten years erlier, showed more detailing than this one. Just have a look at the other, much better detailed models which Märklin and other manufacturers released in the second half of the the 1960ies, and compare it with Märklin’s 3073. To present something like that as new tooling in 1967 must have been just a disgrace for Märklin. If they ever plan a re-edition of this model, they should at least do some improvements on it before, including “real” windows and interior furnishings. Regards, Florian |

I've got some thoughts about that "hoax". 1. The file was created (if you can believe the File->Properties info) by somebody at 21TORR, who have indeed worked for Märklin before. 2. The part number of the "hoax" Russian ICE is 37788, while the part number for the real one is 37787. 3. All the other "hoax" items seem to be simply re-paints of existing models (which Märklin tend to do). I wonder: Was the "hoax" an attempt by 21TORR to demonstrate their capabilities? Seems unneccessary. Was it in fact a (real) proposed new range, which got abandoned at an early stage by märklin because of their financial position? It seems like an awful lot of work to go to just for an April Fool's Day joke? I don't read German. Does the accompanying text in the "hoax" make sense? |

In fact, that folder is a very professional piece of work. Actually, the German texts in the folder make sense. Several time before, there has also been another “faked” folder in the style Märklin used around 1960, for a SJ Littera F, basing on a DB E18 (Märklin #3023). Regards, Florian |
