Hi,

I have only one car/truck from the Faller Car system series but the reed contact that is used to disconnect the power supply at a stop section does not operate 100%. I have respected the dimensions for locating the stop section specified by Faller. But also when I keep the stop section as close as possible to the reed contact of the car it does NOT 100% disconnect power supply. The wheels are still turning at a very low turning rate...

BTW. I have checked/switched the (DC) polarity.

Anyone else having experienced a bad reed-contact?

Distance between coil and reedcontact +- 5mm, 3mm maximum sunken in road and 2mm between road and reedcontact?

Thanks,
Frank

Ok problem solved.
It seemed that the DC voltage I set on the coil was not that rectified as I tought it was. With nice DC power problem solved!

Alltough I've no experience with this systmem sofar, I'm planning to use it in my new lay-out.

Any tips? are there certain aspects that one needs to pay attention to in the design phase?

Hi Frank

After seeing the cars system at Wunderland in Hamburg last December, I think it is essential to digitise the system. Sneaky Look at http://dinamo.vanperlo.net/. I bought some of the stuff recently and will be trying to use it soon.Scared It gives a much better realism than the standard Faller system. I was wondering if someone in this forum has any experience with it.

Look at this video, and tell me what you think.DInamo MCC

Oh dear God isn't it enough to digitalize the trains???Scared

Kidding aside it really shows that when you think the technology has really reached new heights someone has something out there that goes one step further.

Hi

I am building FCS (FallerCarSystem) on my new Märklin layout, including road crossings with Stopcoils for the cars. The stopcoils and the red blinking lights at the crossing are activated and deactivated by FCS reedcontats (Sensoren) placed in the track 60 cm from the crossing.

I have built DCCarsystem into 4 trucks making it possible to switch on/off driving lights, yellow blinking lights, light in drivers cabin a.s.o. a.s.o., as well as regulating the speed of the cars. The main advantage however is the automatic distance regulation between cars, so that they never come too close to eachother. It is all regulated with my Intellibox, as well as the trains. Commands are sent to the cars by means of infrared LEDs.
See http://www.modelleisenbahn-claus.de/dc-car.htm

Best regards

Søren

So Frank,

Will you be adding a new Car component to LocCommander????Drool

Hi all,

Indeed Pieter, very cool this system. I have just put one wire but indeed better to forsee a second one when the cars are equipped with a decoder.

I will publish pictures & tips when my road setup is finished. I have 4 rail crossings all under angles and 1 tunnel. It is just like in real life when they want to extend the metro/subway/underground and all building/infrastructe are already in place. At some point you want to give up because it is very precise work, especially when your railroad infrastructure is already there and you just want to integrate it...Blushing . But so far for me the result is very satisfying.

Best regards,
Frank

Ha ha LOL

First I would like to extend the "route concept" in LC but first of all I want to work on my scenery for a change. Installing this car system is very precise and dirty work especially when your model railroad is already in place. My wife doesn't like it the work that I'm currently doing...probably this says enoughBigGrin

Also the steel mill is making the necessary dust in my hobby room.

BTW. ary you still busy with LC or moved to another brandBlushing

Best regards,
Frank

Haven't had time to do either.RollEyes

Currently I am in the process of cutting the layout in half so it can be moved into the new train room. So the hidden level is removed along with the finishing trim. Next big step is to label and cut wires and add connectors so it can put back together. I will then have to redesign the hidden level. Also waiting to hear more reports about eCos 50200.
