I appear to have a problem with these couplings uncoupling. [xx(] It appears to be when going over a set of Points (turnouts). I think it is the raised Pukos lifting the uncoupling mechanism.
Is there any cure and has others had this problem.
I am thinking of replacing them with RTS couplings. (less cost than the Marklin ones).
Thanks,

NOt wearing the Pink Pinny, which is hard to see and now I have a white Pinny which also is hard to see against MY pure white Skin Still have 2 new shiny tin Hips that is badly in Need of Repair matching rusting tin shoulders and a hose pipe on the aorta Junior member of the Banana Club, a reformist and an old Goat with a Bad memory, loafing around |

I have the older metal Rheingold tin cars. Can you replace the bar coupling connectors with regular marklin style couplings that conduct electricity? Can these be inserted intot he existing pockets? Thanks |

I've had the same problem with regular Marklin couplers also. I bent the uncoupling mechanism metal piece up a little. It stopped touching the raised points and solved the problem. |

Hi Nev. Is it the current conducting ones. As far as know RTS and Marklin are the same. I have not really had a problem with this but it could be the pocket on the coach is not quite level. As Gautham says bending them up slightly could do the trick ... considering the cost of M coaches and couplings they should use stronger plastic. You can use the Marklin older style bar type CC coupling but of course you can only uncouple manually. Let me know how you get on.

PS the plonker has not obviously heard of the new ESU uncouplers which will soon be available for an upgrade lol. |
Take care I like Marklin and will defend the worlds greatest model rail manufacturer. |

The RTS coupler and M. close coupler are one and the same. They can be very time consuming on set-up work - but are fine from there on. You will need to use a "ground spring" (M.72050) on each wagon for the circuit return as the couplers are only single pole. Sadly they will not hook up to the Telex coupler on my BR85.
Fleischmann dual-pole couplers are good, but they are not compatible with RTS/M. TAMS Elektronik (www.tams-online.de) stock 2 styles of NEM362 pocket couplers both in single and dual pole

OH I had a seniors moment. Not ESU CCC but Viessmann 5048 CCC. Which is a 2 pole CCC THanks for the suggestions.

Yes you can do that . (I have done it). I used the RTS CCC as they are less cost than the Marklin ones and as the cars are set up for lighting you do not need the additional bits. Just insert the RTS couplings instead of the Bar. RTS couplings come in a pack of 10 sets. |

Macca , Lokshop. Pack of 10 Pairs, Hooks and Loops.
I have been looking for other suppliers. ETS may be another source. Of course you can use the Marklin ones. same as RTS |
