Where are there some hobby shops in Germany? Especially Koln, Leipzig, and Berlin. In Zurich there are 2 interesting shops across the river but within walking distance of the HBF. In Germany tho I never seem to be able to find the shops. Ich kann Deutsch sprechen. Vielen Dank.--John |

In Köln (Cologne) there are no MRR shops left in the pedestrian area. M* Dealer Search (enter 50676 for "PLZ:"). One shop is left in the city centre: Modelleisenbahn-Center Techn. Spielwaren Lindenberg, 50676 Köln I'd recommend to visit Modellparadies Köln, 50931 Köln as #2 and Jim Knopf, 50939 Köln as #3. This shop Spiel- und Hobby Karin Koeppen, 50937 Köln-Sülz doesn't have too much MRR (it's a toy and hobby shop with MRR); it's not far from Jim Knopf. This shop Lokstation Köln, 51107 Köln is MRR only, but a bit away from the city centre. If you look at a 20 km circle around Cologne, you'll find 15 other shops ... |

Don't forget Müller. The larger ones has a toy department with Märklin trains. They have the basic items, but also spare parts. You will also find Faller plastic kits, and Busch mountains and so on. |
You are never too late to become a Märklin fan. |

No Müller with MRR near Cologne (there is one in Koblenz). |

Hello Wildwoodjct.
Have you tried WWW.lindenburg modellbahn-Koeln.de. I have used these in the past and they always have the stock I have wanted. I have found them VERY helpfull. The prices are on the high side. |

My two preferred shops in Germany right now are Modelleisenbahn Treffpunkt Schweickhardt (modelleisenbahn.com)(Stuttgart and area) and Huenerbein in Aachen (huenerbein321 on eBay or huenerbein.de). The nice thing about Germany (and Europe) is that many cities are relatively close to each other and it does not take too long to make a side trip. My recommendation would be to do a Google search on the name of the City and Hobby Shop, Modellbahn, Modelleisenbahn or do a dealer search from most manufacturer websites. Remember that if you are buying the goods in person, you will be charged 19% VAT. If you order and have it shipped outside the EU, most shops will remove the VAT. So, if you order 3 to 4 items, the 30-40 Euros for shipping will likely be less than the VAT if you had bought the items in person, and if you are shipping the items at the same time as you are returning home, you can claim the goods as part of your tax and duty exemption at your home country's customs by declaring "goods to follow".
