when I place order with Lokshop, I ask them to hold shipment even if everything is in stock. Over a few months I add items to the order. Sometimes they get back ordered and they arrive over time. When I am ready to take the shipment hit I request what is ready to be shipped. Works well for me.

<br />Hi Nev,

Thanks for the warning. One certainly has to follow webmaster's advice regarding use of the special instructions field.

I wonder how Lokshop would get around the extra postage, had you not cancelled the order.

You are sure that Lokshop will charge you the extra postage?

They can't just draw the extra from your credit card, I hope (I take it you pay by credit card) or can they ? Hopefully not [B)]

Benny, I asked and was assured that they would charge the postage. They charge the CC. THa twas when I cancelled the last item.

DAle,
I have always told them not to ship until the entire order is filled. I also place an order and then add to it. when it is full they send it.

It looks to me that they have now changed their practices and if in stock it gets shipped and as the back orders come in they ship out.

No holding on to the order until it is filled.

Nev. This is a poor reply from Lokshop and shows a lack of care for their customers. Until now I have bought from Lokshop but will try elsewhere if they have started this type of treatment for regular customers.

Seems that Lokshop has changed their practices with the year change.

Paying by EU Bank Transfer as I have done once (no items on BO though) I got the invoice by mail with a note (wichtiger hinweis) on page two saying (own translation):

"The above listed items will be reserved for you for the next two weeks. After that time we reserve the right to dispose otherwise of the items". So they need to have the money in that period in order to ship out.

Dale and Juhan: please inform if your future "usual dealings" are treated differently from now on or not.

Benny - Outsider and MFDWPL

David, I am looking for another supplier. Their service has been good na dthe information on hte status of your order was very good. But I felt Very P***ed off over this. THere are some others around with similar prices and I hope a better service.

I have found one...I was a faithful LokShop buyer, but a few shipments were sent unexpectedly. That was Ok, I guess, since they were complete shipments (i.e. all items on the order), but in the past they had even asked for shipping clearance on complete shipments. I looked around, and at about that time Mike opened his store. Although his prices on the surface seem a little higher, when I look at the "delivered" cost, they are roughly equivalent...also he is only about 1 hour away so I can visit the store if I wish. In addition, he has started a sliding discount policy (the more you buy , the higher your lifetime discount on future orders is ...up to 4%) and with that additional incentive, I started buying from him. I was a little reluctant since I had always depended on the LokShop for replacement parts since they list them for order on the site, but with a quick e-mail to Mike I have gotten every part I have requested (assuming it is still in production, a fact I check before calling him). I'd like to point out that I am not associated with Mike's business in any way, but I am a satisfied customer. I'm not sure how his prices would work out for those not in North America, but for me I am happy.

Looks like Lokshop are going to take a profit dip this year (but do they really care)

I would buy from Mike but the cost to bring goods into the UK is high. It works out at about 25/30% on to the price. Mike has an excellent web site and it is great to see members here supporting him.
Polite and good service counts for me and I am sure many others.

While we are here plugging the various dealers, I want to do my shameless plug for Guy from AJ&CKids who gave me great service and price recently.. [^][^][^] In a similar vein, let's add Martin from Marklin 'eh who also gave me responsive service even though I did not end up buying from him - this time.. [^][^] Let's not forget Old Noel in Australia who runs Nathan's Trains and Toys, who also gives great service.. [^]

Adrian: I agree...there are many good dealers. I have bought from Martin in the past and I understand that AJCKids is also good, but I have never had the occasion to buy from them. I just have settled on my current dealer since he has good prices and is reasonably local for me.

Hi all,

my experience with LokShop: I asked by e-mail if it was possible to order one spare part and other items (very few: the Crane Car Set and the SchienenBus !) and if it was possible to have only one shipment, even if the time requested for the spare part had to be long. They replied that it is possible if the amount of the other items is non very high, as they do not want to wait for the payment too much. Result: I received first a confirmation that all the ordered items were available and on the same day the invoice without the spare part (they sent me the invoice by e-mail). Finally I received a couple of months later the spare part (free of charge, the cost is very low: 1,27 EUR) with the Crane Car Set which I sent them for repair, without any delivery costs (I had to pay the shipment of the Crane Car Set from Italy to Germany).

Thanks for sharing your experience, Renato.

So it is not impossible to negotiate with lokshop.de.
