Hi dutch members,

I'll be staying at the Courtyard Marriot Hotel in Hoofddorp 25/09 to 28/09 (Tuesday to Friday) to attend a training course at the JAA Training Center.

I won't have anytime free during the day (except during Tuesday since I'll arrive at noon and will have that afternoon off), just after 17.30. Are there any MRR shops I could visit that are open after 17.30?

Luis

Hi Luis,

There are a few nice dealers within a radius of say 10km around Hoofddorp, however they will close at 18:00.
Thursday evening and Friday evening are better because of the longer opening hours till 21:00.
I'll send you an e-mail with some suggestions if you don't mind.

Kind regards
Guus

Hi again,

As I stated earlier, I'll arrive tomorrow morning in Amsterdam, flying back Friday evening. If anyone is available for a beer, I'd love to meet any of the forum dutch members, it would be the first time I'd meet a non Portuguese forum member.

See you tomorrow, Luis

You are never too late to become a Märklin fan.

I will propably be soon in Amsterdam too (in a month from now) and i would like to visit a store, that will be very easy to find...
An outsider.
I'm looking for the owner of that horse. He's tall, blonde, he smokes a cigar, and he's a pig!

There are two Märklin shops in Amsterdam, and both are not easy to find....
The other one is Hobbyland in the Zocherstraat, at the far end of the Vondelpark.
Walk through the Vondelpark, and take the smallest back entrance at the right at the far end of the Vondelpark. Go right in the street at almost direct at your left hand is Hobbyland.

It is a very old fashioned shop, but the service is very good. It survived many other Märklin shops in Amsterdam. Core business is Märklin, but the choice of kits is limited.

In both cases, I would advice to buy a map of Amsterdam, and mark both stores before you go to Amsterdam.

Another alternative is De Groot Toystore in Amstelveen:

http://www.toyspecialstore.com/

Take in Amsterdam streetcar 5, and drive untill the final destination. You will come at the border of a shopping mall. At the edge of the shopping mall is De Groot, but you can better ask if you are there. Large collection of trains and kites in almost every size.
