Believe me I'm really surprised by the new SDS drive.It is in fact a very small motor but it nevertheless gives so much power-aided by a worm drive perhaps,but still. It was for example pulling our special train during the Märklin Swiss Collection 3 journey from Brugg to Göschenen (supported by a croc from Erstfeld on); this was back in 2001. I arrived there quite early in the morning (German highways are great for fast driving ) and could watch how the driver did the final preparation of the loco (it needed at least as much oil as a steamer! ) and could chat with him until our train departed - on time as usual in Switzerland.

Here are some of the ones I had mentioned before. For sure the current painting scheme is more popular, but ... And here the famous "Buchli" drive (predecessor of the SDS!

May be I'm wrong, looking at firts pictures it seems some gears are on the inner side of the wheels? Still in assymetric position like former model with 5 poles motor or right on the middle of axles ?

It seems that the quality of "surfacing" is better on the SVT 137. The one from the SVT 137 is smoother while the one of the VT 04 looks more grainy ... Am I wrong ? Do you think it has been made at the same place or with a similar skill or dexterity? (sorry it s a little bit off topic. If anyone has the same remark ,I open a new topic)
