I have bought a second hand 6022 and would like to use with my IB, perhaps as a booster for switch decoders. Has anybody got any specs or info or perhaps even an old datasheet / manual? cis it old or new motorola format? Which switch decoders work with it? |

Ulip:
The 6022 works with the 'old' Motorola format. Uhlenbrock does make an adapter that will allow you to connect it to your IB. As a stand alone unit, you can add a 6035 and keyboards. Since the accessory format has not changed the 6022 should work with any accessory decoder. The mini keyboard can be used with a decoder set for address '256'.

Hello, the 6022 was delivered in digital starter packages. You can control 4 adresses 10,20,30,40 and 4 turnouts (last adresses). You can use 6040, 6043, 6050, 6051, 6035, 6036, 6041 left and right. But only the old Motorola 1. So it is written thereBest regards, Rainer

Thanks for the tips so far. If I use the 6022 as a booster for my M-track turnouts and the IB to control the locos, do I need to rewire the turnout lamps as their gound is the metal body of the track?? Same with signals 7039 etc> ?

No, unless you have very many such lamps. That's exactly what this config is good at, and also, to make switching reliable (power is constant regardless of how many locos you runt).
Another way of achieving this is using Viessmann stuff instead of Märklin 6083; Viessmann (and others, LDT, Uhlenbrock) have separate power feed of the decoders.
In order to get the lamps working, you must use "commong ground", connect all brown together.

Thanks Lars,
all the turnout lamps in M-track turnouts are on common ground which is the metal body of the track. This however is connected to the brown connector on the IB, rather than the brown connector on the 6022 which I would like to use as a switch booster only. I thought I had read that different booster circuits had to be completely isolated from each other both on the red and brown side and therefore not share a common ground. If I were to wire the yellow lamp cable to the central conductor, I would achieve galvanic separation from the switch booster circuit but on the other hand would fool any current sensing occupancy detectors.
Any thoughts?

That was my point. Just connect the browns together, also between 6022 and IB too. Those two units also have a connection inside between both brown connectors; but it's different with some units like CS, Mobstat, and some DCC-units. The warnings read are either false, or conern different units that you have.
The Märlin way is always to have common ground for all circuits, except transformers feeding digital units, and possibly house lights etc. Circuit tracks, turnout lamps, decoupler tracks, level crossings etc all rely on the common ground strategy.
Another tip; M turnout lamps may easily get some surgery; a separe feeding cable to the solenoid and another to the lamp. The lamp fed by a lights transformer, the solenoid from the decoder. 6022 not needed, but still common ground.
Regards, Lars
