Is there an online shop where I can buy Roco AC locos, preferably in the UK?
My usual dealers don't seem to do Roco, and the only shop I can find in the UK for Roco is Mackays models, who have a very long list of model numbers on their website but no online shopping.
If there is somewhere else in Europe with a "friendly" online shop I could try them.
Can anyone help?

Most online shops that carry M also carry R. Try the usual Lokshop, ETS, Licht, etc.

Matschke.org also does this type of thing. Buying from Europe by MATSCHKE or others as noted is either than a European Dealer is at lot of burden on the buyer.

Thanks to my American friends, but anything ordered from the 'States takes forever to reach Gibraltar and seems a very roundabout way of buying a European product!
I have tried Lokshop, but their selection of Roco is pitiful!
Luis, I don't recognise the others you mentioned. Can you post url's for their sites please?
I was rather hoping for a UK dealer, as that is the easiest and quickest for Gibraltar.
Thanks for all your replies,

If you know some spanish, you might benefit from ordering from Gotthard Trens in Barcelona. Excellent service and selection. Prices even better than LokShop... (well, on some items at least...) |

Many thanks, guys. It looks like Licht is the easiest to order from, though the unknown delivery charges are a worry. I think I might try them.
Henrik, I did consider Spain, though the geographical proximity does not guarantee easier delivery. Politics may be involved. Enough said![:(!]

Hi Ray. MacKays Models are just a couple of miles from me but they do not sell A/C models same as all other UK dealers[:(] Licht do not hold good stocks and can be slow. Lokshop are not too bad but an Austrian dealer would be faster...Rainer Modelbahn give good service.

Thanks David,
Why is it that such a famous brand as Roco is so hard to buy online?
I thought that Marklin was hard to get, but I guess I've found something worse.

Yikes! =:-| I get your point. Didnt think about that, I admit it... Maybe you could do like Basar Valira in Andorra; They send the packets from Spain, thereby saving their clients lots of trouble -and money! ;-) Would it be possible for you to pick up a packet just north of The Rock? I say it, becuase there are certain shops in Barcelona that leaves nothing to be desired, both availability- and price-wise! |

Henrik - yes that's a possibility. I'd need to find a friend with an address in Spain close to Gibraltar. I know several.
Thomas, I've been looking at Rainer as a possibilty.
Thank you all for your help!

Ray, You can try http://www.hobby-shop.at/I have bought several locs from there. They are friendly, helpful and very responsive. Their prices are not what I would call a bargain but all their items are fairly priced. Maybe you want to take a look. Regards Symeon |

I buy Roco (and also often Maerklin) from www.mueller-versand.de (even if their catalogue is not completely online). It has sometimes lower prices than lokshop. Regards Pietro
