Look at this one:

Looks like an interesting way of hooking up the computer to the layoutCool Software is provided by modellplan
by a software called "DIGITAL-S-INSIDE" - I wonder if this means a potential future Win-DigiPET support? No screenshots though... and it doesn't say if it comes in English?

Hmmm... Win-DigiPET 9.2 supports (based on the drop down box):
Digital-S-Inside
Fleischmann Twin Center
Infracar
LDT HSI-88
Lenz LI100(F)
Lenz LI101(F)
Lenz LI-USB
Marklin 6050/6051
Muet Multi Control 2004
Rautenhaus SLX825
Rautenhaus SLX852
Swicth-COM
Tams Master Control
Trix Selectrix
Uhlenbrock Intellibox

That raises an interesting point in that if Win-DigiPET supports Digital-S-Inside then that may be a way to use this device until direct support is available... I will ask the question on the Win-DigiPET forum... This looks like a good way to get my computer control back without fixing the current IB or buy one of the many other boxes (CS, eCOS, Commander etc)..

http://www.modellplan.de...bung/indexDigitalS_b.htm shows the hardware that connects from the PC serial port to a booster.. This is what WinDigiPet will connect with when you select Digital-S-Inside.. Anyone know where I can buy a Digital-S-Inside??

Thanks for the information Bo..

Actually this is pretty inspirational stuff.. I had a really good look at the LDT website and found this link http://ldt-infocenter.com/page/page_322.zip that provides details on how to connect a Tams EasyControl and a LDT HSI-88 to a computer to detect and control trains (and turnouts).. It seems that Win-DigiPET 9.2 supports both of these devices... The only problem is that the EasyControl is 200 Euro.. [:(] While this is better than the cost of a new IB, CS, eCOS and commander it is still a fairly expensive option..

Any experiences with the EasyControl?

On the german forum stummi.de there is a lot posts of the easycontrol.

Seems it is a good device, especially for it's price. But the lack of bells and whistles (like Cs/Ecos/Commander) is a turnoff for me.

The discostation seems nice, especially if it could be used with a rr&co traincontroller handheld. That device even displays the signal your modeltrain is about to approach. But without a nice hardware knob to turn, modelrailroading is not that interesting for me. Only sliders on a screen are not that convenient to control.

There is much discussion about the new product on the Win-DigiPET forum at http://www.win-digipet.d...;o=&fpart=1&vc=1

Markus managed to save me lots of time, by providing a very quick response to my posting on the English WDP forum. The gist of the message is that the new box will need the digital-S-inside software to operate the locos. The timing of the LDT announcement is such that they will not be able to incorporate full support for this the detection side of the (based on HSI88) box until their new version of WDP (ProX) is updated.. For us international users that means that Christmas is likely to be the earliest we will have a version of WDP to support the new box..

In the meantime, I placed an order for the Digital-S-Inside software and hardware module. This will get me train control from the PC via WDP 9.2.. Next week I will also order a HSI88 to detect the locos.. Oh I miss the Intellibox.. [:(]

Will the DiCoStation support a programming track? And how does software like Win-DigiPET support such a feature?

On the other hand one then could use SRCP-Server instead of this item (if one wishes to run trains by computer only). Then all you need is a booster and the SRCP-Server program. Also runs both Motorola and DCC (but seems not to be supported by WDP though) - unless Digital-S-Inside is the same...

I don't know, but you need to understand that this unit only allows control from a computer. There are no knobs or controls, except those provided on the screen and while you can run trains this way, the real power of computer control (using software like Win-digiPet) is to let the computer use its logic to decide which train to run at what speed, what turnout and signal to switch etc..

Thanks Fredrik.. I wish that I had known about this before I invested many many hours setting up Win-DigiPET... Where can I find more information about the SRCP-Server?

On the digital-s-inside web page (see http://www.modellplan.de/shop/de/dept_26.html) there is a small PCB board on the right hand side.. This connects to a booster while the other side connects to the computer via RS-232 serial port. As I understand it, WDP 9.2 can use this device to control locomotives and turnouts. With the DiCoStation, you don't need the digital-s-inside board, but you do need the digital-s-inside software to be loaded... I am guessing that there is some sort of sofware-based device driver needed for the board.

Anyway more information when it arrives down here... Smile
