Hi everybody...!

I wonder if Marklin shall change the style of k-tracks...?

C-tracks has even more nice face looking shape than k-tracks.

So i really wanted that Marklin must do something about k-tracks...!

News 2007 perhaps...?

Well, as I am in the middle of the construction of a rather big layout, and still having to buy lots of tracks, I HOPE THEY WONT CHANGE ANYTHING!!!

If the talk is only to change the profile to the one used with C-track, I find that totally unecessary. There are so many more things that should be changed, that it is completly hysterical complaining only about the profile of the track... -or "the same track just change the profile", etc... The difference is only 0.3mm of heigth!

So... HANDS OFF of the K-track, please. If this track is substituted for a "better and improved" model, but of course without flextrack, no slim dobbelt-slip and with ridicously long slim switches (just to mention some of the "features" of the newest track-system from Märklin), I might have to travel to Göppingen to kill somebody! ;-)
Best regards

I think this is just something that Goofy has on his wishlist, I don't think there is anything else to this.

BTW, what are the differences between the 2100 and 2200 series K track (if any)?

The 2100 has the same rounded hollow rail profile as M-track, while 2200 has a real rail profile made of solid steel ...

Marklins k-tracks has been same now for past at least 35-40 years...!

Why did Marklin start by producing a new track name C...?

So i`m now dissapointed against Marklin who dont change any at all about k-tracks...!

The technology has been far better now too,so it must been more easy by producing k-tracks to better face looking shape...!

@Goofy,

If you are not so technical, the C tracks are a blessing. The tracks click solid together with good electrical connections. And for me, that is very important.
You are never too late to become a Märklin fan.

Goofy: Marklin HAS improve K track over it's life. The change from 2100 (formed rail) to 2200 (solid rail) was a vast improvement. Also, I believe they changed the material used in the contact between sections in the late 80's.

I also would like to see a new "profi" track from Marklin with the solid connectivity and profile of C track but with the open tie look of K track, but I don't expect it anytime soon.

if anything they could add a second line that has the concrete ties/sleepers. but maybe since they are more concerned with getting the company in good financial order, that won't happen for a while.

Well, some improvements (and these really ARE improvement, IMHO ;-) that I can see on my own tracks;

1) 2100-2200; the full "nickel-silver" profile rail is much better, albeit impossible to solder.

2) Cupper contakt tongues where changed to use phosphorized cupper; less oxidation.

3) Drive-motors unified to a single standard. Even the same for normal- and slim switches. (I think 3-way switch is still missing though... ;-)

4) Unified switch-motors changed to have better end-cut-off contacts.

5) Lanterns also unified. (and the underground mounting kit, if anybody is still using that???)

6) Slim switches modified to NOT have moveable "heart" (a pain in the ... anyway)

7) Tongues (or frogs?) of normal radius switches modified to be machined pieces of rails, instead of pressed metal-sheet.

8) Normal radius double-slip mechanism also modified. (as with 7)

9) Inner tracks of normal radius switches modified to be metal profile rails, instead of plastic rails with a pressed metal sheet in the bottom.

10) The number of different track pieces has been gradually expanded through all the years, and is now really pretty complete. (Who really needs R3 pieces?)

There may be more changes than these.
Somebody else might be able to set a YEAR on each improvement. As I am not sure I didnt add it, and the list is not chronoligical anyway...

On the subject of tracks I would like to see a decent filler between C tracks. Something not too expensive which would save all those packs of Busch ballast.

Take care I like Marklin and will defend the worlds greatest model rail manufacturer.

K Track has traditionally been more for the purist, where as M Track was produced to be easier to lay out on carpets, and for children to use. Hence the majority of starter sets were in M Track.

I think Marklin produced C Track, because M Track was becoming dated and went out of alignment easily. M wanted a more up to date product on the market, that could be used in the digital age, and have modules such as turnout decoders, etc clipped into the track bed easily, and was easy for children to use, and did not go out of alignment. It is probably cheaper to produce as well.

Then in case,Marklin should to do about K-tracks by changed them in style like to code 90,just like C-tracks...!

Some models such like locomotiv are not suitable by driving on the K-tracks,so it happens sometimes accident by driving on the K-tracks...

And besides,K-tracks has poor contact...!

While C-tracks has much better style and contact with locomotiv...!

That´s way i wanted a new style of K-tracks from Marklin, but they are only presented locomotivs and railwayscars as new...! [xx(]

Why only loco or and wagons all the times...?

Wake up,Marklin...! [:(!]
