So, what train related items are under the Christmas tree this year?
Unfortunately no surprises under the tree for me this year... However there is one train related item under the tree... A cheap plastic "Train Master" battery operated huge train set for my son's little half-brother of 5 yrs. If he likes to play with that, there will be a Märklin digital starter set next year for him... |

Well, I don't get paid for overtime any more... But we also have had 2 rough months with lots of overtime at work... Unfortunately it doesn't make any difference for the train budget for me, just makes me even more tired... |

I received some coal in the form of a tender attached to a 3082 model of the BR 41 with the Wagner wind deflectors. I am an analog freak. I only have but one or two Delta types. The generous gift came my way from my Dad in Seattle. He is a lifetime member of the Marklin enthusiast society. His dad worked for the DB until retirement as well as my Mom's Dad did. God rest both of them as we miss them especially during the family times of the holidays. Froehe Weinachten.

No items for x-mas this year. [:(] But after my wife saw a crocodile out of the 3300 set at our x-mas regulars meeting of MIST1 in Berlin she promised I could buy the complete set at the next second hand fair I'm going to. Sometimes it's clever to take the wife to a meeting |

There are some really nice looking presents under the tree, and maybe one of them is for me But I'm not allowed to have a "closer look" just yet. That'll have to wait for tonight.

I gently discourage adults from trying to get me anything train related unless I know they really understand the hobby and my particular interests in it. Gifts have always been special to me and I don't like the thought of "losing" one in a yard full of cars and locomotives. On the other hand, my children can get me anything my layout "needs"[:p] This year saw my mildly autistic daughter get her tee totaling fire and brimstone preacher Daddy a 4 wheel German beer reefer and my son getting me an HO special edition Mother's Day collector's big rig, both of which will have honored front row positions on my layout. Trains will be under my tree this year, though... |

Under my tree is a BR 194. It was a 3322 that I bought for a great price on ebay this summer. It just came back from RJF trains. Robert upgraded it to high efficiency and added a loksound and a huge speaker. I spent about an hour with my lokprogrammer 'tuning' it last evening and the performance and sound is incredible. It is really a nice lok and a great addition to my Marklin collection. r/mark |

I'll find out in about 12 hours. Right now my Big Boy is circling the wrapped presents under the tree.

(this picture is from several days ago before the presents appeared)
Actually we will be celebrating twice. My younger son (34) will be here in the morning, but my older son and his family (my two grand kids) are at his wife's home for Christmas. We will be exchanging presents on New Years with them. |

Merry Christmas to all at m-users!!
I hope this note finds all well and enjoying the holiday season.
Nothing under my tree but plenty in storage in Florida. I will be paying a visit in the New Year to pick up one or two items. In honour of John B one of the items I bring back will be the Alaska set, which I also like alot!! Not sure about other one. Perhaps Swedish Wooden Train or 37184 and Orient Express coaches?? Any advice Juhan?? Can't bring back more as it would push my good relations with friends at Customs toooooooo much.(100% duty)! Ouch.
Once again best wishes for the New Year,
Jeremy. |

Santa was VERY good 29830 29815 39010 + 2 4431 coal wagons and a 4316 Baggage car for my partner as a joke present from us.
A 7286/87 turntable will just "turn up" on the layout early in the new year. Lovely unit.

This year I ran the Bachmann & LGB under the Christmas tree as per our family tradition. As I did not think I was going to get a Marklin present, I bought a vintage silver fish (4043) on Ebay w/obx. But to my suprise under the tree was a Lionel Polar Express set, with my name on it. As one of those model railroaders who are into 3 scales, HO Marklin, O scale 3 rail, & G scale, this was great. The loco has a diecast body, smoke and appears to have good detailing. All the cars have interior lights. Last but not least, while shopping, I came across another Bachmann G scale starter set, at a give away price, so I grabbed it. My kids want me to get the Lionel up and running, so it might get crowded under the tree next year. |

Big Boy #4012! Absolutely delighted. An E10.3 and a BR01 (39010), some wide radius track - couldn't have been a better Christmas.
Actually, I bought it all myself. You see, Mrs. S and I have been happily married for more than 47 years. After so many Christmases, Anniversaries and Birthdays, what else can we buy for each other? So, this year I suggested we each buy whatever we want for ourselves, and on Christmas Eve I opened her presents, and she opened mine. Great fun, and even a few surprises. We will do it again.
Hope everyone enjoyed this Christmas as much as I did, and best wishes for the New Year.
