Should be "feasible", René. Besides the first production units that shipped now, I also saw and pictured one (together with the new Swiss train) just this week in the Museum. However, "better" pictures shall show up earlier in the next Märklin Magazine (just to keep "priorities" intact).

Just a quick question about this crane - does anyone know if the Mobile Station can operate it? I'm contemplating buying one of each (the crane is an absolute bargain compared to other digital cranes, and an MS can be had for a very reasonable sum via ebay). Thanks in advance for any advice!
PS I've also been considering the purchase of a 49961 Messwagen - would an MS be able to operate one of these too? The powered pantographs sound rather neat! |

My dealer says it's no problem to control the crane with a MS, but since it's not in the MS database, you have to select a lok with some on/off functions.

Thanks Michael, I might well be buying one then!
How would the functions work by the way - I'm guessing you'd switch on "F0" (for example) then use the control knob to move the crane in that axis? |

Anyone knows how the crane is controlled? Three piezo-motors, and Motorola only, I think. Is the motor selected cyclicly with 'function', or f1-f4?

Amazon.de are saying that it'll be with them on 1st of November. They're asking €99 which seems to be the standard price too. |

I was told by my dealer that F1 would select one axis, F2 another, and if both F1 and F2 is selected, it would do both at the same time. For example: turn the crane, and lift the boom.
I'm just waiting for it to arive.

I think mine might well come from Amazon. Their prices are a lot lower than those of a UK dealer. |

Hi Michael, f1 will turn it, f2 will operate the boom and f3 the crane hook. For technical/design reasons it will always operate with just one, namely the last selected function (I don't think this is any problem). Address is factory preset to 77. And here a little demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxVoT8PpwPohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIf-4viGEhgIt's just a beautiful little toy - enjoy it!

Mine is now on order, Amazon seemed to think they could get it in 2-3 days. No rush - it's a birthday present and my birthday's not until the 26th! I'll write a review of it and post it in the relevant section here unless someone beats me to it.
Now, how do I go about adding it to the MS? I realise the MS allows you to store 10 locos so presumably I need to tell it that Address 77 is a loco with three functions? Unless, that is, Marklin have updated the MS database? My MS will be a brand new split from set example when it arrives. |

I have tested it a little bit now. It works well, but the speed of the rotation is a little bit too fast I think. It is difficult to control it precisely. According to the manual, the speed of operation should be dependent on the setting on the speed knob, but I can not see anything else than "on" or "off".

I think mine may be on the way, as I said I won't be able to get my hands on it until the 26th anyway due to it being a birthday present. Hope it performs well with an MS. |

At this time of year my wife more or less forbidds me to visit my MMR dealer, if it isn't for spare parts or something. |

I think Marklin may have severely underestimated demand for this - I now have a revised delivery date of between the 5th and 13th of January 2007! Mildly annoying - Surely they'd have realised that a functioning crane for around €100 would sell very well indeed? |

I just got a couple of pro-forma invoices over the weekend showing that my orders for the 46715 kran is "on the way" Unfortunately, I have also heard that the boom whips around like the ICE.[V] But anyway, a new kran wagon is better than no kran wagon. Gene Harvey on the left coast

The new crane is nice, but as others have said, it is a bit fast. And I just realised that I don't have anything to lift with it But it fits right into my yellow work train set. And as I was playi......, err testing my latest "toy", my cat came along and demanded to be in the picture. Anyway, I got a bit of video for you to enjoy: http://www.ejberg.dk/external/marklinusers/46715.wmv

I enjoyed your video very much. Toward the end I was wondering if it would turn into a Japanese-style monster movie but your cat is very well behaved. |

As soon as the cat appeared in the video, I found myself watching her, even though I am not a cat lover! She's attentive and full of expression. Towards the end I was thinking what if you blasted your horn at her. Will she jump? Well, your video answered my silence question in the end Thanks for the very nicely edited video. |
