Anyone know how to get the shell off the Thomas engine? It looks like you push it forward to release some sort of catch on the rear, but I don't want to break it trying. Anyone done this yet?

Hi Ron....LOL........ I just did something similar. For xmas I was given the PIKO Metronom. So I throw the lok on the layout, dial in the digital address and I get lights but no movement. [:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!]

Then after FURTHER reading of instructions I realized I had to hold the control knob in reverse for 8 seconds and wait for the lights to flash before use in digital mode. Ohhhhh, the embarassment.

At least I did not tell my wife the gift she got me (ok, had me get for her to give to me) was broke before realizing my mistake [:I][:I][:I][:I]

Yes. I really should read the instructions first. (But I never do).

I stopped in a train store on the way home tonight (Nicholas Smith in Broomall, PA). I was surprised and a little saddened to see the variety of Thomas stuff that Bachmann is marketing in the US. They have at least 15 different cars, and several engines besides Thomas (I saw James and Gordon), all in HO. It seems that Marklin is behind the power curve on this one. Even though they have the exclusive market for Europe of HO Thomas (I beleive), as Bachmann has the US, it would seem to me that the variety of offerings by the different licensees would be comparable.

When I was in London a few months back, the big player seemed to be Hornby making the Thomas and Sodor crew. I guess each 800lb gorilla or quickest one acquired the license per regionconfused
It is what it is........

Set up the Thomas set for my twins birthday on the 1st Jan (They're 5). This little engine is pretty good IMHO. Just used the V100 loco parameters from the 29750 set and modified it with a MS to access the acc/brake delay etc, tweaked these a bit, changed the name and address, and have to say am impressed with the running characteristics.

I think we will Thomas's friends in the not too distant future...
Cheers

Hi,

works like a charm. But, have you managed to change the symbol from a Diesel Engine in the V100 to a Steam Engine for Thomas?

Ah no, perhaps you could set it up as the BR86 out of that starter set, then you would be stuck with unusuable function icons...

And if you change the adress using the 29750, then erase it from the list and add a new loco with the adress function?
No function symbols and the correct steam icon can be selected.......
