Hi all,

I'm finally connecting my turnouts to Viessmann 5211 decoders, but I'm having reliability problems when switching M-track turnouts. I use the E input of the decoder to ensure the necessary power for switching. I even removed the bulbs. Nevertheless the M-track turnouts not always switch completely? I have NO problems with my C-track switches. Currently I'm switching 32 switches, 6 of them are M-track switches.
What can be the problem?

Frank: What is your signal source for switching? Manual buttons, a keyboard or other control unit, or a computer interface? I have found that with my K-switches, I need a pulse duration of at least 250ms to reliably switch them. Supposedly 80ms is the minimum, but I have found that anything less than 250 will not insure that all the switches will porperly set.

Hi Ron,

I'm using a computer program. You could be right, I'm only waiting for 150ms (recommended by Marklin 6051 manual) before I send the command to release the switch command. Of coarse 250ms is a lot of time. But I can try to increase this time parameter.

If you have 32 switches, you must have several Loks.biggrin
Try powering up your layout without any Loks and see if the switches work. If so, you are running low on amps. Adding 1-2 boosters may give you the oompf you need.

It could be a mechanical problem. I have had the problem with a few M-tracks switches. Not even when operated manually (by turning the switch lamp) those switches operated reliably. I have managed to adjust some of them but there are still one or two which I can't trust.

Most of my problems were resolved by replacing the springs. The part number is 353080.. The cost is A$0.75 (last year)..
