Does anyone have any experience with software from the firm "Tayden Design" located in England? They have 2 software programs designed for Märklin: "Automation Station" and "Expert Engineer". I am interested in any feedback on the "Automation Station" software. It looks very user-friendly, and I was impressed by the timeliness in which the company answered my emails. They also stated that they will try to make their software compatible with the Märklin CS. We will all have to see what is going to happen there, since I don't think anyone knows exactly the "data source/code" of Märklin Systems yet.
Anyway, the price seems to be right (or actually almost too low): $20.00. Their website is www.tayden.com.
Any information would be much appreciated!
Thank you in advance,
Jan

I tried their software and was not impressed. Went and bought RR&Co instead.[:p]

Their code is *very* dependant on 6051. Works with no other system. Did not work well with my IB.[B)]

If you have a 6051, you can give them a try. Maybe it works for you.wink (and for only $20...)

Thanks Thomas.
My next question was going to be about the IB, and you answered that. Doesn't look too good. Might still try it for $20.00.
I'll look again at RR&Co.

I have a couple of their products.. The Train Automation Station was the first one I purchased from them.. You can't compare this product with WDP or RR&Co as it is a completely different market. It costs very little, while the other two products are hundreds of dollars. I used it to understand how I could use a computer to automate the layout.. Learnt lots - they had a few small bugs, which they fixed very quickly after I sent them an e-mail.. BTW working with IB was one of those problems - no problems using an IB at my end..

I also have a collection database from them - good product with shortcomings, but very affordable..

I have since moved to WinDigiPet for train automation and Erik's ICollectTrains for the database.

McLae: I found the RR&Co site based on your quote. However, I can not find the minimum computer requirements posted to run RR&Co. I have a Pentium III computer w/64MB RAM, (i can upgrade to max 384MB) and run Windows 98 as the OS. Do you know what the requirements are?
One other question, please. I am trying out the demo version of Windigipet, but am having a very difficult time trying to get more than one route executed in timetable mode- very frustrating. Did you by chance ever test Windigipet? And if so, why did you choose RR&Co over it?
thanks

I did try WDP. Don't remember exact reasons, just not my style.wink

Download the RR&CO demo program. Only differrence with registered version is the ability to save your work. If the Demo works, the 'real' program will also work.[:p] If you hardware is too old, you may be able to use an older version. I think I remember seeing these on the site.Cool

McLae,
I did download the program, and have been able to run some loks, and make my layout diagram (switchboard), the turnouts work. My next project is to layout some routes along some blocks with start, deceleration, and destination contacts. Then use the dispatcher to control them. so far so good.
Appreciate your helpCool

You are welcome![:I]
You might also want to check out the software section of the Links&Downloads section. Some free programs there, and also other control programs. RR&Co is a lot of $, so make sure it does what you want.wink

Thank you for directing me to those links. Many of those software control websites are in German. My problem is "meine Deutsch is sehr schlect und Ich spreche wenig Duetsch."
RR&CO seems to have good English support.. althought the price is equivalent to that of a lok![:(]
