It is also listed a "limited edition", maybe MHI or Insider?

Metall Edition is limited to one or few per dealer. the items are in a natural metal finish with some type of protective coating. Some collectors like them because they are limited.

I'm not a fan of the unpainted metal models, but I did manage to pick up a set once that has three locos in it. They are very unusual and if they were black like they were in ht epainted models, all of their detail would be missed. Although they would look strange on a layout, I guess they could be painted if ever they were to be used. They apparently come with a clear coat on them.

According to the Märklin web-site it is not marked as as a MHI? But it says "...in an attractive metallic collector version." although this does not necessarily mean limited?

Most probably there's an estimate of its produced quantity in the latest Koll's Spezial edition.
Does somebody have that edition?

You can find most of them by Walthers or Pacific Western Rail, for instance. But they are a lot of dealers who sell American freight cars. Best quality are from Intermountain, Proto 2000 and some Atlas, Athearn and Walthers series. Check on my website for further details about conversions.

Of course, you will have to change couplers with Kadee # 17 on all you Märklin cars and locomotives (# 19 on rear PA1 coupler).

Pierre.
