I was wondering about running the New Zealand Government Railways Q-Class Pacific on Marklin tracks. There are models available but they are mostly kits which you have to put together,if I want to run a Q-class or Addington A-Class,do I have to convert the wheelbase or the motors or custom designed pickup shoes?

you'll have to change the electrical pickups. you should be abel to use the existing wheels - others here have done DC to AC/digital conversions of various locomotives. a roco slider will work well.

The website you've supplied states that the loco will run on HO tracks.
Your best bet is get in contact with the person producing the loco and he will be in a position to tell you all the details you need to know regarding digital, 3 rail.
Let us know how you get on.
Looks an interesting model.
