Is there a guide published somewhere that cross references C track to M track? So if the C track item number is 2xxxx then the M track item number is 5xxx. I'm putting together a new layout and would like to take advantage of some very favorable prices on M track for a hidden storage yard.
Thanks, Joe

Of the M track and C track only some curved sections R1 and R2 match. R3, R4, R5 do not exist in M. The straigts and the turnouts have a different geometry.
R1, r=360mm 30 degr. C: 24130, M: 5100 15 degr. C: 24115, M: 5101 7.5 degr: C: 24107, M: 5102
R2, r=437.5mm for C, 437.4mm for M 30 degr. C: 24230, M: 5200 24 degr. C: 24224, M: 5206 15 degr. C: 24215, M: 5201

Also, 24188+24172 = 5106+5106 = 360mm. |

The geometry of the C-track may seem complicated at first, but you will appreciate it when you start connecting turnouts in a railyard. The length of a straight turnout is 188 mm and the curved track is 172 mm in length. So you can always get the tracks even - usually without adding short pieces.
I just wish there was an "industrial track" available, like the old M 286 mm radius... But in worst case I have to try and get some old M-track for those specific places. |
