Hello All:

I am currently experimenting with weathering tracks, especially the K tracks. Recently I purchased a bottle of "Rail Weathering Solution" made by Micro Engineering Co. But it doesn't work on th K tracks as they are steel instead of nickel silver or brass in which I think would corrode easily with this solution.

Can anyone please give some insights as to some methods or tips on giving these Marklin tracks the "rustic" look to them?

Thanks very much in advance!

Hello David,

You can search for "weathering track" text in the Painting & Weathering section of this forum, with "Search In: Archived Posts" box checked, and you should find some previous threads on this issue.

You can also check the following article in the Models & modeling section:

A friend of mine has used Humbrol "Rust" colour paint, thinned with a bit of turps, applied to the side of rails, spreading to the sleepers adjacent to the rails, with a small brush, then wiped with a rag. Very good results...
