A friend has asked a local dealer to install decoders on some older DELTA locos. He wanted LocPilots (simply because of their good reputation). But the dealer suggested something else - Uhlenbrock decoder with sound option. He said its the same price but could give a sound option if/when its wanted, and that one could download many different sounds for it from the internet. It this all true? anyone has experience with those decoders?
Thanx
Monique

Hello Monique, afaik, Uhlenbrock decoders with SUSI interface can be connected to a sound module made by Dietz and sold by Uhlenbrock.
You have Uhl 76200 decoder with SUSI for Märklin uiversal (AC) motors. Whenever you want to add sound, you buy and install an Intellisound and have it ready.
Sounds from Uhlenbrock are downloaded at some cost.
The price of the 76200 decoder could be similar to that of a LokPilot, but you must pay for the Intellisound.
No experience so far with Intellisound, only with Loksound.
BTW, Loksound don't work well on Steam locos with the universal (AC) motor because they don't have load control over these motors, thus being impossible to synchronize sound with movement.
Uhl 76299 DOES have load control over AC motors, so a synchronization is possible.
See the 2004 news at www.uhlenbrock.de to download the leaflet which describes 76200.
