Hello all,biggrin

I am new to the forum and come up with a very classic question that need your help.
I am working on a project having computer controlled train operations in my layout. Everything is fine until I come to running three trains simultaneously. Sometimes, the turnouts do not work according to my software command. I start to understand that the power supply from the CU may not be sufficient under this circumstances. Power Booster is then the first thing come to mind. Incidentally, I have an old Marklin Delta control and I recall that it may be used as a booster. I have then consulted the Marklin-users.net and found a description of using a Delta control as booster.

Setting/Connection of Delta control according to my understanding of the information presented:

1. two inputs (I) & (II) of Delta control to the Delta Pilot are to be connected(shorted) together.
2. the yellow and brown power input line of Delta control are to be connected to a transformer for AC power supply.
3. The red line of Delta control should be connected to "the digital signal of the central unit"
There is no output from the 6021 except its digital power wires (red and brown) to the track. I have then connected the brown of the Delta control with the 6021 brown wire and then the red wire of Delta control with the 6021 red power wire.

NOTHING had happened!

Could anybody with the experience of converting adopting a Delta control as booster please shed some light on that?

Thanks!

You have to have the selector switch on the 6604 in the RIGHT HAND "OFF" position (Fully clockwise). Otherwise it sounds like you have it correct. I am using several of these for my layout.

Hi Leung, your connections are right. If you're using Delta Control as a turnout booster, you'd better have a separate line from Delta Control to turnout decoders, from brown/red connectors at Delta backpanel. You don't mention an important point that could be missed: the control knob of Delta Control must be set to the RIGHT stop position before you power up the system and must remain there.
It should work. If not, test the Delta Control with a loco to be sure it's working.
Delta as turnouts booster is a very good choice. Cheap, simple and efficient. Have fun...

Yes! I thought the description was talking about to turn the knob of the transformer to the right most postion.

Bingo! It works like magic after turning the Delta control knob to the "Stop" position at the right hand side! And the knob must be there when powering up and that's the most tricky point.

Many thanks to both Ron and Jorge!

Sorry, Leung, Jorge is correct...it is "STOP" and not "OFF", but it is fully clockwise. It won't work in the left "STOP" position. I am at work and didn't have one in front of me.

I am at the front of the Delta control and therefore, Stop and Off is just same to me as long as they are at the most right hand postion.

I would say I am much delighted right now after dealing this problem for some time.

Thanks!
