Hi all,

I have been in Prague (Czech Republic) with my wife recently and I have (of course) visited Prague Castle and the St.Vitus Cathedral. On our way out from the Castle we have also visited a Toys Museum in the Old Count's Chambers of the Castle. I wasn't really into this but there was a huge collection of Barbie dolls and apparently my wife had the last word.

While I was wondering around the exhibits I came across two showcases which contained some of the oldest Marklin stuff I have ever seen! Some dated back in 1891 when there were no tracks for the trains!! [:0] I am posting details from shots I have taken but if somebody wants to see the the fully detailed pictures I can send them by email.

If anyone visits the Belgian Coast, You might find time to visit Traincity in Blankenberge. On the top floor there is a permanent exhibition about Märklin. The collection is the private collection from Frans Bevers. What you see is only a part from it. The intention is to change it from time to time. For more details: www.traincity.be. The museum is Hugely sponsered bij Marklin. Since it opened last summer,I visited it already twice and i will return!

Hi Bart

To visit the Traincity is an excellent idea [:p]. Next September I'll be in Leuven for some days, so I cannot miss it. Probably I'll have to travel first back to Brussels to take the train to Blankenberge.
BTW, do you know any nice train shops in Brussels that you recommend?

Cheers,

Nuno Smile

Cool Hi Nuno,

1. Concerning Traincity. The Belgian Railroads offer a daytrip to Blankenberge - Traincity (untill 31/3/2004) , Fair includes voyage to and forth and entrance fee (abt 20€ from leuven). But here's some other news. I heard that a group of train hobby-ists are renting a part af the Trainstation at Blankenberge and will build some layouts which will be possible to visit. It's not yet there, but they will start soon, so I've heard.

2. trainstores in Belgium:

It is not my intention to start a spam-riot [B)] on this site, so I'll try to mail then to personally. Cool

I'm not aware of any shops in Brussels [:I] .But there some wellknown shops spread over Belgium.

See u at traincity!

Hi, Bart

Thanks a lot. I'll be there by September, so maybe those layouts will be ready.

Cheers,
