Hello!

All DB AG class 152 locos are painted in traffic red (sometimes hidden by advertisements).

A few weeks ago I noticed that they added handrails to some of them.
Yesterday I noticed that I have pictures with several different company logos.
I'll show them in chronological order.

Here you see 152 087 without additional handrails (December 20, 2004):

Railion logo with blue square at the left.

Here you see 152 103, also without additional handrails (January 7, 2005):

This one has no company logo.

Here we have 152 094 (January 21, 2005):

It has a blue square at the left side of the Railion logo.

And 152 112 without additional handrails (June 24, 2005):

No company logo here!

Here you see the roof of 152 077, cab 2 forward (August 16, 2005):

No company logo here, either!

Here you see the roof of 152 098, cab 1 forward (August 22, 2005):

It has a blue square at the left side of the Railion logo.
The prototype locos have the large antenna at cab 2 (something that cannot be said about all M* models).

Here you have the modified 152 087 with additional handrails (November 5, 2005):

It has a blue square at the right side of the Railion logo.

Here's 152 127 w/o logo, w/o handrails (April 9, 2006):


Here you have the modified 152 087 with additional handrails (April 14, 2006):

This one has the blue square right aligned.

Here you have the modified 152 103 with additional handrails (July 22, 2006):

Here we still have a blue square.

Here you have the modified 152 094 with additional handrails (August 18, 2006):

It shows "Railion Logistics" but you can still see that it previously had a Railion logo with left aligned blue square.

Here you have 152 095 also with "Logistics" (September 8, 2007):


Here you have 152 056 with right aligned blue square (September 23, 2007):

You can see that this loco previously had a "DB Cargo" logo.

Here comes 152 146 with DB logo only, no additional handrails (October 20, 2007):


This one shows 152 031 with DB Cargo logo, no additional handrails (July 13, 2008):


I can see no pattern with respect to logos or handrails ...

Loco 152 190 has different semiconductors than the rest of this class (it was previously listed as 152 033), but that makes no visible difference (at least nothing I noted).
195 locos had been ordered, but only 170 were delivered - plus 25 "Tauri" (class 182).

Ah Tom, another of my favourite era V locos (I have the 37350). Thanks for these fantastic pictures.

I guess changing wiper blades and faulty motors would also be difficult "on the fly" without a station platform and a hydraulic lift... I suppose the modification is made for easier maintenance, also when the loco is in a yard without platforms... It's just a guess, but I find the theory plausible...
