While heated debate revolves around non delivery of 3/2007 package Insider 4/2007 is available for download. Amazing David the Scott prediceted this a few days ago. (Still waiting for 3 and 4 would be arriving)

This is so insulting to customers like me and others who have paid for Maerklin Insider membership for years and have to call Goeppingen to tell them they never sent us a _ _ _ _ thing in terms of 3/07 Maerklin Magazine, Insider News or any DVDs or anything that was promised us.
This is outrageous that they are totally silent on this point and do not admit the situation is a total mess. I can understand this behavior if customers don't pay but clearly they have no clue who should get the MM or Insider magazine without calls to Goeppingen. And,yes, Lutz they had all my credit card information current and correct along with my Insider number, my address was correct and clearly they sent me nothing but after my call to Germany they said they will send me what I've already paid for.
This is poor customer relations at its height. It's a perfect business school case study. How stupid can they be to screw people who are among their most loyal customers...even if they are not in Germany or Europe! Give me back Maerklin USA and Paul Adams if this blatant incompetence continues.
Finally, I emailed them with my Insider number (which has been correct and never wrong) and completely no response. Only do I get a response when I call over to Germany wait forever on hold and finally talk to someone.
There is only one reason for this irrational corporate behavior and that is they have us die-hards that support the product so they can treat their best customers with complete arrogance and continue to make their sales quotas from us whether in Europe or not. I guess you could say we're the stupid ones to put up with such arrogant and unresponsive treatment.

Excellent idea, David. We should give it a try. However, given their perspective for growth of the investment unless the whole Maerklin Insider thing is adding to the value of their investment through capital accummlation they probably couldn't care less. Being a banker, I'm sure you know this.

I can see no reason why anybody should require to telephone in order to receive the information they have paid for. There may be the odd case where a magazine gets lost and this is understandable but not where a whole continent has to phone or half of the USA. Number 4 should not arrive for some people before others have received number 3. I have my stuff so I am only making the point on behalf of my friends elsewhere.

No, I actually met and talked with the right people in Germany, good friends in the Stuttgart area all wonderful people but unrelated to model trains/Maerklin. We (er, I) did not have time for a visit to Goeppingen.
But, now I can call Maerklin in Goeppingen each quarter from North America to remind them to send me whatever I've already been billed and paid for. Guess, this is a new style of Insider "self-service" in their view. They probably think if someone can afford to buy Maerklin and pay for an Insider membership then they can certainly call us for whatever we are negligent in not sending to them. This is a real advance forward for Maerklin and customer relations. And, everyone knows they and the true Insiders in Germany can afford to be arrogant about it and admit no problems since the products they produced are generally best in the class of HO world-wide.

Lutz, your assumption that a small number of Insiders didn't get their packages is very presumptious, <s>arrogant and insulting </s>to us die-hard Maerklin Insiders who have experienced this first-hand unless you are acting as an official of Maerklin and know that the population is nominal. I do not know the scale of the issue but there is evidence it spans countries outside of Germany and what we see on this website is only a small sample of a larger population. In any event, Goeppingen knows there were issues with 3/07 mailing and Axel Dietz and management are responding.
I did as you advised. I made my concerns know and have received responses from the CEO along with the manager responsible for the Maerklin Club. I'm a very reasonable person and get along very well with the good people of B-W...at least in person but not when they are shouting and yelling at us and treating us like we are all stupid.
I agree that shipments of 4/07 should not be held up for anyone. That would be pointless (not "stupid") and in no one's best interest so I'm actually pleased you received yours.

Hi Larry,
I can understand your point of view too good. I used to live and work in Ireland for a long time. Marklin just started to deliver the german version of the insider packages abroad. In the beginning I had to complain as well, which was very unsatisfactory to me, because I paid some money to become an insider. I complained via email and received an answer within a few hours. I hope you will get your insider news on time in the future. That reminds me to write an email to Marklin and ask for the clubcard which expires at the end of this year and has not been delivered yet. |

DO not hink that would work. It would get a short term message across, then there would be a HUGE increase in Sales as you caught up with the delayed buying. N |

Isn´t that rather short-sighted? I think most damage in such a case would be done to your local dealers, because Märklin sells most of its stuff to germans and close neighbouring countries, who are NOT suffering any delays or problems and therefore are probably NOT going to boycot anything/anybody... Good point, Henrik, however, I understand from the annual message of the Maerklin CEO that in recent years sales outside of Germany for Maerklin are around half of total sales. This ratio could change as the Germany economy is becoming stronger. I don't have the numbers in front of me and with LGB this ratio is likely to change. Perhaps others have more accurate and timely information.

Ron : I dont think I would be so understanding. If they have taken your cash why not get the credit card firm to refund. May not be possible depending on the amount paid. Here in the UK anything over £100 can be clawed back if the goods paid for are not received.

Well, the funny thing is that they have not yet processed my card, but they keep telling me on the phone that all is well and the packages are on the way! I probably should have told them to hold them and I'd pick them up in Goppingen next week myself. I'll be there next Friday afternoon. |

I got my package on Tuesday. Its a little better in content than previous efforts I thought, not a lot, but better. They really need to include the advertising in the internation issue, maybe not all that goes in the german edition, but maybe at least the shops that do international shipping, and other product lines. I liked the girly cars shown in the insider magazine - have to get those.

Well as of today I still have not received 03/2007[xx(] About a month ago I called New Berlin to renew my membership (didn't want to trust FAX or any dealing direct with mother M) I did at least expect some for of email acknowledgment of my renewal, but got nothing. So I called New Berlin today and spoke with Barbara (I think). She was very pleasant and expressed that they are very frustrated with the main office as well. She indicated that they have forwarded all renewals on several occasions but Marklin is very far behind on processing everything, including the member shipments. She said she will send me out 03/2007 along with all of the included document right away. She also said that although they do not have 04/2007 yet, as soon as it comes in she will forward that to me as well. She explained that there a various negotiations going on between Marklin and the distributors (financial in nature I believe) which is part of the cause behind the delay. She also conveyed to me that a group from the Main office was in New Berlin a few weeks ago to discuss the problems and they were giving a long list of complaints from Marklin USA as well as from customers. So if you have not yet received 03/2007 or your confidence level at receiving 04/2007 is not very high, I recommend calling New Berlin. I'll ;et you know if I actually receive anything though.[:0]

Why do you guys complain? I received my package well in advance!! oh.... wait... that was 3/2007 that juts came in ... [:(] Well.. we know it was delivered in Germany... so.. don't worry... it will show up on your footstep... once the sailboat reaches our shores .. and they fight through the angry natives.. build a railroad to reach the interior of the land... fight with plagues and dangerous local fauna (raccoons?).. I know I am distant from civilization.. it was after all MY choice to live in western Pennsylvania .. where postal service is very occasional! |

its amazing that they all don't arrive more or less the same time in any given country, and give or take a few weeks, the same globally. I have no problems with the mail delivery in my neighborhood in W Pennsylvania. Although occasionally the mail man has left a package belonging to someone else (never happened in reverse by the post office to my knowledge however), but unfortunately the other person did not appear to be buying any marklin stuff.

JON - Off the topic but is there anything Marklin-related to visit in the Pittsburgh/SW Pa area? I have to go there this Saturday related to business but would stop at some Marklin shops if they were recommended just to see what they have. Is the model railroad display at the Carnegie Museum of Science worth seeing? Thanks

Stephen. Think of Pat ...having just got No. 4 he will now worry about No. 5 for months until it arrives.
What we need is a new canoe just for Australia. Volunteer rowers are now required..only those under 25 years 6foot and 15 stone need apply. That should get the boat moving... and a small guy hanging out the back eating beans.

Ok, so this week I have received my 3rd duplicate of 4/07 MM and Insider news. Of course, I had called Goeppingen and receive an email about this from the ceo of Maerklin, but it's strange to now have 3 copies. Each time the duplicates came I was excited only to find the same versions already received. Maybe the canoe keeps paddling in a circle in the Great Lakes area of the US.
