And my 3053.1. An absolute favorite, even if the paint tends to pop off... This a "pristine" replacement model for the one I trashed in my childhood.

If you have the Norwegian version you would have been right. The Di3a (3.603-3.633) had Co-Co configuration. The Di3b (3.641-43) had A1A-A1A like the Danish MY class. (I don't have any ofe the Norwegian ones since I only buy German models)

Well, The Dutch has its new home.

From Holland:

That's a great combination, Al! Those blue coaches are prone to Schlieren in the finish but yours are like new. Is your collection ever on display somewhere? Or do you have a site on the web? Your collection is awesome and one of the most impressive I have ever seen!

Hi Oscar,
my serie 800 and 3000 models are usually kept in their boxes.
The most beautyful among the oldest come from other perfect collections that I have bought.
However all my locos (old and new) run on the track, as you can see in various videos in the web.

Please inform an ignorant newcomer about the meaning of Bo'Bo' and Co'Co' [:0]

Looking through the posts I gather that Bo'Bo's have 2-axle boggies and Co'Co's 3-axle boggies (don't know if 'boggies' are spelled right) but there must be more to it than that...?

OK here goes.

Letters denote number of powered axles. 1 axle = A, 2 axles = B, 3 axles = C etc.

If there are any unpowered axles they are denoted by numbers, one for each axle, so 1, 2, 3, etc.

If the powered axles are independantly powered, such as in modern electrics where each axle has its own motor, this is denoted by "o" after the letter, hence Bo and Co.

So:

Diesel hydraulic with two x two axle bogies, such as V200 is a B-B.

Electric with two x two axle bogies such as E10 is a Bo-Bo.

Diesel electric with two x three axle bogies but with the centre axle unpowered, such as the DSB MY is a A1A-A1A.

The E18 and E19 electrics are 1-Do-1.

I hope you get the idea.

Good explanation.

This also means the E91 is not a Co'Co',but a C'C' machine, because the axles aren't independantly powered (it has coupling rods!). The ' means that it is a bogie, so a steamer for example,is a 2'C 1', where the front two wheels are in a bogie, the three powered wheels are in the frame and coupeled together, and the last unpowered wheel is in a bogie again.(for example class 01).

It also is possible that a lokomotive is articulated, such as a crocodile. This is shown by hooks. Let's see it. It is a (1'C)(C'1).
This means two frames, where each frame has three coupled powered axles and one unpowered wheel in a bogie.

That is indeed a nice model (and I have one too).
But Bart, if you find the red taillight much to dim, then I have a little modification that will get more light out of it.

Hello guys,
Please excuse my lack of knowledge in this area, but what exactly is a Co'Co'? How about Bo'Bo'? I have seen these "names" around the forums but don't really know what it is. Does Co'Co' comes from the wheels configuration of six axle( three in front and three at the back)?

And it is quite robust as well. Mine took a nose dive (twice) from the table top down on a wooden floor back in the 'good ole days' when I ran analog on M-track. Apart from a little grey plastic 'box' on the underside that broke off, the lok survived without damage [^]

Hi Bart,

Fine engine. It sure looks like the DSB (Danish State Railways) logo and the word GODS in danish does not mean the Lords own train but simply goods or freight.

I haven't actually seen it, I suppose it could be a NSB (Norwegan State Railways) engine. Maybe another member could produce a photo from the proto type.

I have engine no. 1215 many years old. This is a Fleischmann model, which I am converting from DC to AC to run on my M* layout. I see some differences, bogie colour, catanary arrangement. My yellow stripe has changed over the years to more whiteish, unfortunately.

This blue model is re-produced by M* in 3Q (included in New Items 2007 M* no. 37121).

<br />Fine engine.

It is the danish litra EG. A lok designed to operate in Denmark, Sweden and Germany. It is used for the freight connection over Øresundsbron between Denmark and Sweden. A bunch of pictures are available here:
