406 Container Lorry Set
This item was released in 1975 along with two companion sets, 402 & 408. Set 406 includes a motorised AMS 'LKW' Container Truck 480 with slow-geared chassis, an automatic loading/unloading dockbay 435, a selection of single-lane AMS track including turnouts and a controller.
The loading ramp operates by the truck reversing into the unit, operating a mechanism whereby the container is either lowered onto the truck deck, or is raised off the truck. It is purely mechanical, being a design of plastic cams and spring tension with a toggle mechanism, actually similar to a ball-point pen - one click to extend the writing nib, another click to retract it.
The Truck is fitted with a rear guide-pin to enable reversing into the loading dockbay.
