How much is it possible to reprogram the Märklin mfx decoders ?
As much as ESU LokSound ?
What is required to do it - CS/Ecos/LokProgrammer/other?

Hi Michael,

It depends. You can reprogram std Märkln mfx decoders with the CS, ECoS and /or the Lokprogrammer. You can reprogram Märklin mfx sound decoders using the same tools, but since the sound files are not available (yet) , you have only limited options to change sounds. I am using both, the CS and the LokProgrammer. Since the ECoS doensn't support mfx, you cannot change all as can be done with the two other devices.

I have got a ESU Lokprogrammer and ESU test-stand on eBay and are waiting for it to arrive in the mail Cool

Hope that I get some help here if needed [:p]

Are you saying Lutz that sound files will be available from Märklin also later on confused

Ok, i was just thinking about stuff like function mapping, that could be done by all 3 ?
I only got an MS, so cant do it myself, and would like to swap some functions with others that i can't get to with the MS.

Makes sense! wink

You're safe with a CS and the LokProgrammer; the ECoS doesn't support mfx and thus doesn't allow access to the neccessary parameters that you'd like to change.

Ok, then i just have to find someone who owns one of them, and ask nicely if they would reprogram for me - or perhaps buy a LokProgrammer :)
CS is so expensive..
