I'm building a new layout with my old m track and ( 6021 ?) controller. Planning to use digital control of turnouts and signals and find that the 6040 keyboards are available on ebay. Believe that a 6043 memory unit would be of help for route control if I could find one somewhere. What has been the experience with the 6043, and is anyone using one?

It´s very easy by using it.

The memory unit must first been loaded(chargement?)up,for battery memory in the unit at least 48 hours.

Maybe there is somebody who can help you better what i can do.

Is there any links which you can take an look and see what there is to learn...?

The memory was use for routing turnouts/signal. You need control unit and keyboard(s) for memory.

One memory have 24 routes (up to 19 tornouts/signals per route).

It can up to four 6043 memory per layout.

But the new Central station update do have the routing.

You can get CS update (all in one!) for around 400 Euros.

Hi Tex,

I've been using 6021 for 10yrs and started 6043(w S88) & 6040 about a yr ago bcos of my dealer's clearance, and I got them at very low price. I made reference to the following two sites and may be you can get some idea there..

http://www.ebis.ca/marklin/index.html
Download the Digital Handbook here. It's got examples for using the 6043.

and the next give you the historic background and price info...
http://www.ete-ene.org/MarklinDigitalSystemsArtile.htm

Anyway, getting a updated product like CS and IB is good choice. I don't do it bcos a) I don't like the look of CS, and b) I can get the 60xx very cheap, and I have too many old stuff.
Your case may be different. However, the 6040,6043 can also be used with the IB if one day you want to upgrade. I know I will get an IB one day.

Hope this helps.
Eric

Thanks for the link steve. Just purchased a memory unit on e bay for 96 euros. Seems to be in new condition but instructions only in german. I'm planning to use viessmann decoders and signals. Will be a while before I'm in operation tho.

Sorry, if I'm late. But there should be some kind of batttery inside; the unit might be old and have a need for checking it. I have not heard any problems with it though.
