I use alcohol swabs on the non-traction wheels.

Both get medicinal alcohol applied. Isopropyl for the one, 15 year old scotch for the other. I'll let you figure which goes where.[:p]

I use Heptan (Dipropylmethane), what we used to call, directly translated from Norwegian, "cleaned gasoline" (for the wheels, that is) and Q-tips. If the wheels are very bad, I mechanically remove the worst dirt first, with a small plastic scrape.

15 years old scotch? Hm, not so bad either.

Well, this might go bad someday, as the wheels need to have electrical connectrion to the tracks.
But then it's easy to clean a few of them Smile

On some of the older rolling stock, I have used a product called "Goo-Gone" This stuff, I don't know what it really is, takes off some of the rust also. I would not use it on anything that has a rubber tyre.

Alchol is also good, especially for track. One of the Kiwi's years ago recommended it on the MML(the 90% variety). Somewhat hard to find as most of the stuff is 70%. Takes all the crud off the track, and doesn't leave any residue. Not for internal consumption. wink

I guess in a pinch, Wild Turkey, would do. biggrin Not for the rolling stock!

Don't do that at home kids - it's carcinogenic [xx(][xx(][xx(]
Unless you have access to a fume hood at your work stay with ethanol or isopropylalcohol (sprinkler fluid for your car) [^]

I think Methoylated Spirits will do. Straight for the Wheels and with Orange Juice for internal cleansing
