I came across an 8619 long lumber wagon on eBay. It's two six-wheeled bogies supporting a long wooden load. The two bogies are not connected except by the load.

The way the load is attached to the bogies seems a bit magical, and I can't imagine it working at 1:1 scale.I have looked on MLGTraffic but found nothing that resembles the model.

Am I not looking hard enough, or is the model just not based on a prototype?

If it is prototypical, it certainly is not a modern image item so you would have to search on one of the sites for historic trains (sorry I don't know them as I do modern image).

Thanks for the reply. My focus is on Era IV, so 8619 is probably anachronistic.

I can't believe that in the real world the wood load would stay in place once the wagon was being hauled. I would have thought the load was just be pulled off one of the bogies.

For finding the prototype the problem is knowing the name of this type of car. I don't and couldn't find an example. I have one and it is unique, it looks great on the track. Mine has lettering on the side but I am not home for a few days to look into it. If Marklin produced it then there is a prototype somewhere, maybe a one of a kind car so who knows what Era? I'll report back if I find it.

OK by shear luck I found mine in my "Collection Marklin Spur Z" book. It is Marklin #80003. A museum car produced in 1992. "Märklin Mini Club Museum Vehicle 1992 Johann Weber Z Gauge" I found a few on eBay quickly but don't have time to do a deep dive into it's origins. Good luck!
