I think the "1/1" just means that the piece is a full length straight (180mm). For example the 5107 1/2 is a half length (90mm).
Marklin HO using M track. Now reverted to analogue as I find it has more character - and I understand it!

Hello Kumar
Before 1957 (older Märklin numbering system) the series 3600 were with solid third rail (from 1945 until 1957)
They would include
- 3600 D1/1 (D meaning straight and 1/1 meaning full length=18 cm
- 3600 D1/2 straight 9 cm
- 3600 D1/4 straingt 4.5 cm
- 3600 D1/8 straight 2.25 cm
- 3600 D3/16 straight 3.38 cm
- 3600 BSD straight 18 cm contact track

From 1957 a new numbering system appeared
- 5106 is the former 3600 D1/1
- 5107 is the former 3600 D1/2
- 5108 is the former 3600 D1/4
- 5109 is the former 3600 D3/16
- 5110 is the former 3600 D1/8
- 5105 is the former 3600 BSD (Contact track straight

Here is a copy of the 1956 catalogue with all 3 types of track but the former numbering system.
Cat Marklin 1956 SP.pdf (15,866kb) downloaded 22 time(s).

Here is the 1957 catalogue with the new numbering system
Cat Marklin 1957 EN.pdf (11,363kb) downloaded 21 time(s).
Cheers
Jean

Hi Kumar
There are only 3 slider-operated switch in M track and they are:
- 5146 straight 1/2
- 5147 curved R1 1/2
- 5213 curved R2 1/2

Cheers
Jean

The contact tracks were manufactured from modified standard track piece parts so would have carried the appropriate plain track number. For the 5213 it would have started life as a 5201 blank and would have 5201 1/2 lettering.
