For those complaining about how much the Maerklin Metropolitan, Giruno or Roco Nightjet cost, the Bachmann VIA Siemens SCV-42 comes in at $US495 and the first 4 of the Venture coaches are US$139 each for a partial total of US$1051. The pilot coach will probably cost above US$150, more if it includes a decoder, bringing the total to over US$1200.

I haven't had any North American models since my youth when I was running Triang, but I like the look of the new trainsets
I don't know whether the SCV-42/Venture can be converted to 3 rail AC

US$1200 works out to CAD$1650, which is comparable to anything European (loco and 5 coaches).

I would love to see this from Maerklin. What do you think?

Regards

For 3 rail, sure. It seems like everything Amtrak or VIA is either Bachmann or Rapido. A few digital sound from Athearn.
