Hi all, wondering if anyone has any Märklin catalogues or other original literature in Japanese?

Very hard to find but they do exist.

I've reached out to a couple of members from, or with connections to Japan and even they didn't know of them.

I was not able to contact one of our long time members Hajime, he was last active couple of years ago and his email address is now bouncing.

Appreciate any assistance.

Cheers

Hi Stephen,

You surely remember the Alte Modellbahnen Forum? As I see you are a member there. Have you by chance come across this thread which mentions and even shows a Japanese price list?

http://www.altemodellbah...Maerklin-Preisliste.html

Hope this helps a little.

Many cheers,

Hans

Hi Hans,

Yes I reviewed several past postings on FAM before making my request, and I was able to 'borrow' a couple of images but none yet showing the print code details I want to confirm.

I also sent Charles a PM asking if he could help but no reply yet. However that's not uncommon on that forum, if you're not one of the chosen few.

Thanks anyway :-)

Dear Stephen,

I am very saddened to having to bring you the news that Charles has passed away last September.

He was indeed a very special member of both this and the German forum due to his professional background in the modeltrain industry. Yet, in this sad case, not answering you had nothing to do with him feeling slighlty elevated. Well, anyway, who knows ...🫣🫣

May he rest in peace, he brought knowledge, verified information and not least a lot of wit to the forum. And, he could write.

Regards, Hans

Just adding.

His real name was Karlheinz Hornung. His forum name here is Minibahn.

And if you scroll through the aforementioned thread again, you will find that all regular names are in blue, the moderators in green, the administrators in red, and Charles, along with all other members of the Alte Modellbahnen who are known to be deceased, has his name turned into black.

And, correcting myself and acknowledging that time is flying, he indeed died in September, but already in 2022.

Thanks you Hans for that sad news.

I missed his passing completely, I did note Thal when he passed away because his post were always interesting.

I'll be sure and check the status in future, I'm surprised the forum still allowed a PM to be sent.

Glad I didn't ask in the thread, that may have earned some çomment for my oversight.

Thanks again.
