I have seen on a website that this new item for 2006 includes a decoder and a turnout motor in one unit.

Is this correct ?

If so it seems like a great item. The price is aboutthe same price as a marklin turnout decoder.

How do you set the address on Veissman decoders ?

It seems so. Allowing for both DCC and Motorola. And possible to use with any make of turnout. Technology is slowly moving memory wire.
But I find it hard to get info about
- when released
- price
- how well and easy it fits.

Eurorail Hobbies has the item listed on their website.

Release is September 2006

Price is $28.90 US

But it seems like a good alternative at this point.

This could help with three way turnouts.

Has anyone purcahsed the Veissman 4554 yet?

Does it really have a decoder and motor in one unit?

Feedback is appreciated!

Release has been updated to be December 2006, but Viessmann has been known to be slow (up to years of delay!).
I've pre-ordered at Lokshop for €24.

For demo, see http://www.viessmann-modell.com/video/4554.zip

Listening to the video I get the impression that the product will be available for many different types of track and brands. I am guessing that the part number 4554 is for the Marklin c-track system and that more models will follow for other types of track.

No, as far as I understand one single type will fit all tracks, various adaptors will probably be included.

Correct... that's right.
About the advantages:
1. Cheaper than having separate decoders/turnout motors.
2. A slowly controlled movement.
3. Fits really well. (At least the ones I've seen presented at the Spielwarenmesse almost a year ago)
4. Programming is done by pussing a small button on the decoder, after having this done, push the button you intend to use to switch the decoder (or send the appropriate signal with your CS/IB/Computer/... ) and the decoder is programmed.

Not officially. I quoted Lokshop's "LT" in their Viessmann price list.
