Hamburg Central Station was opened for visitors on 4 December 1906, the first train arrived the next day, and scheduled trains started on 6 December 1906. The Prussian state railways were in charge of the construction and operations. Hence, depicted locomotives and rolling stock should be of Prussian origin. Prussian tank engines class numbers were always beginning with the letter "T" (= Tenderlokomotive = tank engine). Given the 1906 timeframe, the backwards running tank engine could be a Prussian Class T 12 (which "survived" as DB class 74.4 in Hamburg), but I am guessing here.

Searched early DR tank Locos. DRg T2 maybe? Too small to be a 95 or 99.

That's a really nice set, and you can run anything from the era with it, them I should think. It's your collection, your choices.

Hi Heinrich,

Thanks for the great photos.

The green and brown and other colours (grey? etc) were used on Prussian trains before 1920, mostly to differentiate classes of travel (1st, 2nd etc).
I would trust Märklin on this, whatever they produce for era I Prussia (KPEV) would be fine to use in any colour.

That engine you show (28456) would be good in the set, as would the T12 mentioned by Alsterstreek.
The T12 seems to be only available as a model made from 2009 to 2021, so must have been popular.
