My Class 50 steamer 88846 arrived today via UPS in a rather battered outer box.
This is the diecast bronze bodied loco with a cab tender in black with red wheels.
Despite all 10 driving wheels being flanged and having a rigid frame it negotiates 145mm radius curves.
The weight of the loco on its own is 32.5 grams, I had expected it to be heavier because of the bronze. Time will tell how well it performs, it does have a front coupler so comparisons will be made with forward and reverse haulage.
I had thought I wouldn't buy any more steamers but the bronze sold it to me!

Further to yesterdays quick review I began to ‘run in’ the loco on my figure of eight track. Runs flawlessly in forwards direction but in reverse not so good. The track is Rokuhan screwed down on a board and is level, in reverse the tender sometimes derails on curves and then the loco started shedding the dummy indusi detectors which are mounted behind the rear drivers. These detectors are very close to the rails and may be inhibiting the movement of the drawbar for the tender. Luckily (!) they are merely plugged in and can be re-attached easily or maybe left off altogether.
More tests to follow when I can get the Noch layout out.

Hey Chris,

I m curious how it turns out and if you will be able to get it fixed. If you require anything for comparing, I have the regular br50 (The classic version, with 5 pole motor from startset 81864), just shout out!
