Hi everyone,

Now that I have a basement with space to work with, I've unpacked all the trains from moving/storage boxes and placed them on shelving for easy access/reference. The next step of the process is to go through all of my freight (and then passenger) rolling stock piece-by -piece for three reasons:

1- evaluate consists and see if anything is blatantly missing, or excess
2- evaluate maximum train lengths for future layout planning, or at least a general maximum so I know how long to plan sidings or storage for
3- Put them through the "car shop", doing a visual inspection and functionality check on the pieces before boxing them back up

This has been a massive amount of fun, and dare I say it some pieces came out of the box for the first time. Photos to follow once I finish. However, getting back to the point of this thread the visits to the car shop have generated a need for a few parts.

Does anyone know a way to pull part numbers for rolling stock parts? 99% of what I need are very basic/generic buffers and coupler return springs, so I'm sure they can be purchased but I have no idea how

Insights are appreciated! Of course I can get into specifics if relevant

Depending on vintage of the equipment of course, I have found Ritter to be a good source albeit sometimes a bit on the expensive side, and for most of the oldest equipment , TTN is also a good alternative

Hope this helps

Thanks Jacques! Sadly everything is rather modern, which is good for part availability, but bad for finding the darn part numbers...

Some examples: Hupac container car buffers and coupler springs, Buffers on 4736 boxcar, Wheel Chocks for trucks on Rollande Landstrasse Flatcars etc...

Same request here - I have a set of Marklin 47453 Hangartner container wagons, some of which need a new Y coupling drawbar/coupler pocket.
