Hi all,

I have a S 3/6, part of Rheingold set 26506, which always derails the front bogie when entering the inside curve of all my curved turnouts.
I have tried very slow speeds, still derails.
No problem on regular r and l turnouts.
The bogie appears to be free and not binding, however I have noticed that it lifts the inside wheels of the front bogie very slightly when going around corners.

Any suggestions?

I did a search for S 3/6 derailing issues and found nothing.

Cheers!

Don
Best Regards,
Don

Hi Don, try to bend a little the copper spring in the bogie, this will increase the pressure on the wheels and almost certainly solve the problem.
Also check that the tender coupler is moving freely, if not it can also lead to derails in the front bogie

Hi
Have a good look that the bogie is correctly installed (both front and rear). The screw must be tight but not blocking the bogie.

Measure the inner distance of the wheels. Must be 13,9 to 14 mm

Look that the spring has the right shape and tension

Usually these are the common issues. If the problem continuous I am afraid that you must have the loco checked by a pro.

Good luck

Hi Francisco,

With the smallest extra bend in the copper spring it now runs perfectly.
Its not easy to get the parts back together with the tiny screw!
Thanks for the idea!

Now, for some reason, the sound( whistle and bell) no longer functions. Sigh.
Guess ill have to open up the tender and have a look.
Always something to do!

Don

Best Regards,
Don
