Hi!

I´ve also got started on weathering since a few weeks. Spent most of that time reading and trying out metods and materials. I ended up with a mix of airbrushed wash, brush applied wash in streaks. Followed by color detailing with alcryllic powder, sealing the Creation with a matt varnish (Clear cote). Sounds like a lot of work, but didn´t take more than 3 hours including stops/starts and clean up of tools.

My prototype:

Yeah great job with the BR24 looks fantastic.

I notice the real picture you linked is era 3a livery, yet interesting to note that no one sells the BR24 in that state - Marklin just re-issues the era3b version over and over ^^.
Otherwise it'd be on my shopping list.

As a proud owner of a BR 24 also, that weathering job took my breath away! Great work, it looks amazing!

Hi!

Wow! Intresting. What is the differences between 3a and 3b? Is it the missing "DB" logo?
The exteriour looks similar for my un-trained Eyes.. Blushing

Yes, it's pretty much to do with the DB logo. I'm sure there are other differences as well but the DB"cookie" logo or lack of it is the first indicator for Era IIIa or IIIb.

Era3a has Deutsche Bundesbahn instead of the DB cookie and also only have dual headlights, not triple. Another change was the removal of 3rd class, though not relevant to this lok
