Greetings to Marklin users...
I recently bought a Marklin 37321 brand new from AJCKIDS. And I absolutely love it.
However I have a couple of questions regarding my MS2.
1) How can I check if Marklin has any updates for MS2?
2) And how do I update my MS2?
Thanks
VJ

Hi!

Re 1: Connect it to a CS2 with current software.
Re 2: Connect it to a CS2 or MS2 with current software.

Or more practical: check this forum to find the current version. As of today it is 2.5 with TFP 1.39.
Then visit someone with a CS2 or MS2 to make the upgrade. Or mail your MS2 to someone.
Regards
Tom

Hi VJ
Check to see what software version is currently on your MS2 - press the shift key (lower left) hold it down and press the upper right key (toolbox symbol) - MS2 information is displayed - press that key and it will display the SW version that is loaded, v2.5 which is the latest, or v2.3, or possibly 2.1?
HW will be 2.1 (newest), or 2.0
LDB will be v014 2014/5 (newest) or v013 2013/3
Language 1.49 (newest) or 1.47
File system 1.2 (newest)or v1.0
Railbox is v1.39
Joe

Ah ha - now comes the tricky bit....you need to find a fellow Marklinist with a MS2 that has the latest SW v2.5 already on his MS2; if you indeed find such a fellow, then its easy - simply take your MS2 to him, plug both the MS2's into his connector box, and follow the prompts.....and voila! your MS2 will have the latest software....did mine here in Cape Town a few weeks ago....BigGrin
Alternatively, if you are lucky enough to know someone with a CS2 (or maybe you have one?!) then just plug the MS2 into the CS2 and it will upload to the latest software version...or maybe one of the model shops in JHB can help???
Take care,
Joe
PS I'm sure I have a spare manual somewhere.....I can maybe scan it and send it to via e mail?

I have a question to follow...
I bought Marklin 37321 about a week ago and I plan to run it using a MS2 which I got about a year ago...Do you collectors foresee any problems in running the 37321 using MS2 without updating the software? Will MS2 recognize 37321?
I know the easiest answer is to try it out. But, for that I need to wait till the weekend and dig through my stuff which I had packed up with a thought that I will not be using them for a while.

Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Thanks
VJ

Yes, it should.
37321 is mfx and there should be no problems.
For locos with mfx+ you will need at least version 1.83 on your MS2 for flawless registration of the loco.

Tom

Is it absolutely necessary to update my MS2? I was checking a new car set I bought for lighting, MS 2 worked smoothly (I have had this MS2 for more than a year and never updated it).
So, my question is how do I know what the latest SW update does and do I need it?
Comparing to phones, sometimes the update is necessary absolutely..Now, do MS2s also have something similar?
Please share your experience
VJ

There are some milestones.
IIRC you need version 1.50 for a functional Master/Slave setup with 2 MS2.
IIRC it was version 1.64 that allows 40 locos instead of 10+1.
You need 1.83 for flawless registration of mfx+ locos.

I don't remember important improvements since then.

Hello Vijay,
My CS2 is almost 2.5 years old and I never had any issues operating the MFX and non MFX locos. However when I ran my first MFX, the existing loco list was reset and I could find only one entry for MFX (36243) in the list. You could also find a thread where this topic was discussed in detail. Update for the 60653 Mobile Station
Regards,
Madhu
