They have arrived this morning!
I must say I am**very** happy with this new acquisition!ThumpUp
First the small locos are really very well build, solid in all details, well proportioned.
Body in metal, as well as the handrails, etc.
Cab is plastic.
Painting and markings are all flawless.
Yes better, in every respect than the other (more modern) Märklin Ee 3/3 that came some years ago
So yes, I have made a spot for them in the display case, but that doesn't mean they will stay there often because they simply run beautifully.
I don't know what type of motor it is, but frankly it doesn't matter , we have a perfect little switcher here.
**Very honest** pulling/pushing power: twelve Märklin 4-axle freight cars, zig-zagging through the yard's maze, a commendable performance for such a small loco.
Just a slight (slippage) hesitation on the sequence of 4 adjacent double slip switches, but frankly they all do it there, even some much bigger/heavier locos.
I also like the set of functions and sounds, except that , in my opinion, the running noises are not well synchronized with the speed and a bit unrealistic.
Otherwise I really like all the different light schemes and combinations, especially the one that , in one single function, regroups setting the loco in switching mode (slower speed range) and sets the lights' aspect to the correct SBB regulation. Pretty smart!
If I have to find one slight criticism, it would be that the white lights are a bit too bright, but that of course may just be a matter of personal taste.
All in all well worth taking a good look at, it is a nice addition to any layout, but particularly those who model Swiss practice.
Back now to the layout upstairs , they need some exercise these new babies!Wink

Hi Anders
I haven't made any pictures myself.
They pretty much are conform to the pictures shown in the new items catalog.
If there is a specific detail you are interested in, I'll gladly make a few pics.
Just let me know.
Cheers

Hi Jacques,

I'm glad you've given them a favourable review. I would like one of them, but I don't want both so I'm holding out for a dealer to split the sets.

And after a few hours of operation, I can now add that the very slow speed performance (speed step 1) is at par with the original C-sine motor from 10 years ago: pulls full rake of 12 cars/48 axles without the slightest hesitation.
Märklin quality like we are expecting.
Brilliant!ThumpUp

Here's a video I just added.

Enjoy

Hello,

Upon receiving these two little gems from my dealer, after a very long back-order wait-time, I saw the dreaded sticker again:

"Made in China",

And this despite the astronomic price this set sells for (>$450). But, wait, wasn't production in China going to stop as of 2014?

Maybe it's just me, but I find that even the boxes and the plastic casings and linings "feel" different. The same happened with the S 2/6, 37015, also sold for a stratospheric price, but made in China.

We're definitely not in Kansas anymore, Toto.
Best regards,
Armando García

I certainly wouldn't buy it if it was made in Kansas!

I have this set and just recently unboxed to run. Jacques' review is spot-on: excellent, detailed, smooth-running little switchers.

MY biggest complaint: NO Telex couplers. It's a switch engine with limited switching potential.

Anyone had success adding Telex to a modern MFX digital locomotive? Tips/techniques?
