I recently purchased three hopper cars on ebay that are of different eras. The price was great, and I knew that the older car was basically a "throw in". It needs a coupler spring that would fit over prongs that are approximately 2 1/4" apart. Does anyone know what part number would be appropriate? I do not have a box to go with it, so there is no item number available that would offer a clue. Thanks in advance for any help you folks can offer.

Hi,

It would be easier if the car is identified. If you can't take a photo, just write what is printed on the car: Railway-company, numbers etc.

Regards

Markus

The graphics on the car are faded, but this much I can post: DB B52226 (I think this is accurate). It is red with a middle door and is two wheeled. I wasn't able to post a picture.

I have used a spring from a old pen in a pinch.

Hi Don,

You have a Märklin 4602 or 4902(kit-version). The correct spring is E765530. The number is for a pack of 10, single springs are available on Ebay. There are also offers titled "765530" or "76553" which are older versions of the same number and mean the same spring.

Regards

Markus

Thanks, Markus. I had looked on eBay but couldn't figure out the correct spring number.
