A friend of mine gave me a TEE dome car without lights or the original box. I would like to add lights which would be kit 7322 for the 4090 dome car. However the wheel sets (bogies) are snapped in on the bottom instead of held in with a C clip. Will the 7322 kit work and what model number is this dome car? I believe it is a newer one then the 4090. Thanks - Fred

Hi Fred,

It sounds like you may have a 4099 Dome Car, according to the catalog it accepts the 7329 interior lighting set.

Cheers,
Gordon

There are several different models of the dome car. The first was the 24cm metal version (4090). That was followed in the early 1970s by the 27cm plastic version (4099) which had it's pivot point at the centre of each bogie and long shaft leading to a Relex coupler. A second version appeared in the early 1980s with an adapted chassis with offset pivot point and a shorter shaft with a hook coupling. After that, they released a version as part of the 42990 Set which was the first dome car to come equipped with close coupler shaft and sockets.

Each version had different lighting requirements. AFAIR the 4099 had a special lighting kit that was the same as the 7239 but did not include the plastic light channels, as the model had integrated channels connected to the dome roof.

Maerklin has since released a 28cm version of this coach (TEE colours) in the 26540 set

Regards
