Hi all,
When using my CS1 with lokpilot4 decoders, I have noticed a strange behaviour: on direction change command, the loco headlights change to the new direction, briefly flash back to the old direction, and then return to the new direction.
The locos behave normally (without the flash) using my 6021, and non-lokpilot locos behave normally with the CS1.

Has anybody seen this behaviour? Any ideas? I'm stumped!Confused
Thanks & regards,
John

No.
Which software version does your CS1 have?
Which protocol are you using?

With version 2.0.3 or 2.0.4 I'd recommend trying "Motorola 28".
With version 3.0.1 or later I'd recommend trying "DCC".
Regards
Tom

Hi John,
No, don't have a lokprogrammer. Do all my programming with my trusty 6021!

Hi Tom,
I'm on 2.0.4
I have tried M14 and M28, but both show the strange behaviour.

By the way, I have done a LokPilot "reset" (CV8=8), and no difference.

regards,
John

Hi John, All,
It is a brand new lokpilot which I have installed in an analog lok. I have done many in the past. Never had a problem. All features of the lokpilot work perfectly in this installation - just that the headlights blink once on direction change! Annoying!

Hi John,

Is it just one LP V4 decoder doing this, or more than one? I can't tell from your posts. If it is just the one we could be looking at a duff decoder.

If the rest of the functions on the decoder are nominal then perhaps you have to be philosophical about it and accept that this one decoder likes to flash it's lights more than others!

Seriously though, I have LP4 decoders which I have used with my old 6021 and with my MS2, and none show this behavior. I don't see why the CS1 would do any different.

Hi Ray, All,
It certainly happens with more than one LP4. Don't yet know if it is all (I have quite a few). It does not happen with all of my loks - non LP4 loks seem to work fine. All loks work perfectly with my 6021.

I have also noticed that if a direction change is issued whilst the lok is moving (even at minimum speed), the lights behave normally - even on the CS1!!!

Stranger and stranger.

Regards, John

Hi John, the Lokpilots have different behaviour to Marklin decoders, in that if you reverse the loco when it's moving it will first slow down and stop before switching its lights and starting off in the other direction. Maybe this gives a clue as to why your decoders are doing the extra lights flash? Could the decoder by checking which direction the loco is moving in?

Did you tried to reset CS1 and restart it?
It might be bugs in the CS1.

Hi Anders, All,
Yes, I have done a full reset of the CS1, and also a software reload. No effect.

I have done some more testing, and can now confirm that the problem only occurs when CS1 controls LokPilot4 equipped loks. Any other combination works perfectly (ie 6021 controlling LP4, or CS1 controlling LP3 and Märklin original). Some of my LP4s were converted quite a while ago - but since I have had a little break from MRR, and since my CS1 is a relatively recent acquisition, I can't be sure whether the problem is new, or has always been evident! I am completely confused!

Regards,
John
