Hi all -

New to the forum and with a question. I recently purchased a used BR 50 from a gentleman that was getting rid of his trains, but he didn't have the box, manual, or model number. I've tried to figure out what Marklin model number this engine is, but have had no luck. Can any of you guys help me based on the pictures below? I know it has an MFX decoder, sounds, lights, but that is about it :).

http://www.maerklin.com/...ch%2Fproduct_search.html

29820 is correct but not the cover roof for BR50.

The cover roof from the snowplough/tender such as 28830.

Unfortunately I can't help identify your model, but I can't help but notice how there is only one center rail pick-up on the tender. Hopefully no one has had any issues with this.

According to Helmutt Kern's website (http://www.hfkern.gmxhome.de/) 50 2362 was produced in the 29820 and 29821 starter sets (no difference between the 2 sets, except 29820 was for 240v 230v voltage and 29821 was for 120v).

When on Helmutt's website, click on Marklin / Loks / Then under 'Dampfloks' click on Br50

That's normal, that's how the loco is delivered from the factory. There should be no issue at all with that.

It was for 230 V mains voltage.
Some people say it can also be used down under where the nominal mains voltage is clear as mud and sometimes given as 230 V and sometimes as 240 V.
Helmut only marks sets that are not for the German mains voltage. Starter sets where no voltage is specified are for either 220 V or 230 V.
Regards
Tom

Hi,

I can't find the manual for your set, but the Marklin online database contains the manual for the similar 37848 loco. Have a look in here:

http://medienpdb.maerkli.../1/pdf/37848_betrieb.pdf

You'll need to copy the URL into the browser address field to make it work.
