Hi Members
I purchased 6 Viessmann 4554 for my layout and managed to programme them ok. However them seen to work in reverse. On the CS2 pressing the "red" icon the turnout motor moves to straight and pressing the "green" icon the turnout moved to curved.Confused
I followed rschaffr's DCC proceedure as well but they still worked in reverse.
What am I doing wrong, or is this normal.
Cheers

Russell,

It has been a while since I set up my 4554s. Maybe try swapping the two blue wires. From the manual, the blue wires control the turnout motor.

Let me know if this works. My layout is not operational at the moment but maybe I could try and set up a test rig to check one of mine and see if I swap the blue wires the direction changes.

Hi Glen
Im using a Viesmann 4554 point motor and decoder in one.
Pleased you manager to get your coaling station. I think it is very impressive unit.
See you at the EMC at Easter.

Not having used those, I'm sorry I'm short of an answer to your problem unless it's possible to reverse the actions in the controller keyboard ? Swapping the blue wires ala Marklin point motors I guess would be too easy, and it can't be done using under track decoders there either.
There was some literature from years ago, that suggested the old blue box controllers should be wired in reverse of what we allways did, ie the green button should be proud in the straight ahead position and should therefore be pressed to switch to siding, whereupon the red button would be proud.
That thinking is all history with feedbacks etc. Again not having a CS2 either I'm not sure what you see on the keyboard Confused

Russell,

I just set up a test situation and tried swapping the blue leads ... it didn't change a thing. It still worked the same way. Mine work perfectly. Click on the "green" to go straight, click on the "red" for curve. I even tried defining the switch for a left instead of a right. It still went straight when I asked it to and curve when told. I even tried swapping the yellow and brown wires ... surprisingly, everything still worked. I am not sure what your problem is. Be sure to let us know if you figure it out.

Hi Robert
Thanks for your reply. I tried your suggestion but no matter which way I connected the wires it still worked in reverse, which annoys me some what.Angry

Don't you have an option in the central station to reverse the command so it does the opposite when pressing the same buttons?

I too found myself in this position but the solution is really easy.

Here is a general note that I prepared for myself when setting up 4554 motors -

"When viewed from above and with the drive lug at the top, operating a Green icon on the CS2 moves the drive lug to the right and operating a Red icon moves the drive lug to the left."

4554's always behave like this and there is no way to change it but if the points do not move to the correct position to correspond to the CS2 icon, turn the motor round by 180 degrees (moving it to the opposite side of the track if necessary). You will have to turn the drive bar round as well but doing this will result in the motor driving in the opposite direction and thus following the CS2 icon.

Following on from my previous post, here are a couple of sketches I have drawn for my own reference which show where to position 4554's relative to the point end in order to get the direction of the points to agree with the CS2 icon.

These are only for K-track - I can't speak about C-track.

I hope this is useful.
