Hi Sop,

43876 seems to already have a decoder:

>> Roco E17 <<

So, if it's not sufficicient, yo have to replace it,
by an ESU lokpilot V4 for example.

Check the manual of the loco to see if there is really the 8 poles socket inside
(as written on the link I've found) to replace the decoder.

Regards
Joël

hi

I have reference model "Roco 10739 Digital-Lokdekoder", but it is not clear it is not fully compatible?
Do you have comments?
I've checked, it has 8 poles socket inside.

"Roco HO Artnr. 10739 Digital-Lokdekoder, speziell für Wechselstrom-Modelle mit Schnittstelle und Gleichstrommotor, passend zum Märklin-Digital-Sytem ( Motorola-Format). Geeignet für Digital- und Analogbetrieb. Ohne Lastregelung. Licht getrennt schaltbar, Anfahrschwelle einstellbar, Beschleunigungs- und Bremsweg getrennt programmierbar. Anschlußfertig mit Kabel und Stecker für Schnittstellen nach NMRA R.P.9.1.1. und NEM 650/652. Mit Schalter zum einstellen der Lokadressen ( 80 Adressen ). Mit Betriebsanleitung. Nicht bespielt, in Orginalverpackung. "

Well, everyone found the same link...
Your decoder is then Märklin-Digital fully compatible - for the Motorola period.
It evolved a bit since.
I'm not a digital specialist, but this decoder surely recognize automatically digital or analog mode.
So the only think to do to drive in digital is to find and enter the factory digital loco address of
your locomotive in your digital station...

Joël

PS: I don' understand if you have this 10739 decoder or if you have to buy it. Is the 8 poles socket inside
only covered by a small circuit board (to allow connexions) or do you have the decoder with its eight wires really connected ?

Hi, Sop,

Don't buy a 10739 decoder, get a modern decoder with 8-pin plug instead.
Which controller do you use?

Thanks for the picture.

I found on the web a picture of the 10379:
http://cgi.ebay.ch/ROCO-LENZ-10739-DIGITAL-DECODER-AC-LOKS-Y176-/140484948949?pt=DE_Modellbau_Modelleisenbahnen&hash=item20b58e33d5

It doesn't seem to be the same.
Looks like you have only four wires - just for an analog reversing unit ?

My knowledge for roco locos stops here.

by the way, as you have this 8 pin NEM socket,
you will be able to add every modern digital decoder.

Hoping someone other more digitally involved can help...

Regards
Joël

I agree Don't buy a 10739 decoder !

The loco came with an electronic reversing unit for analogue operation - and I guess that's what you still have.

I would buy an ESU decoder that support MM, DCC, and SX protocols (#54610 for v4.0 or #52610 for v3.0) - even if you have an old Mobile Station that does not support DCC.
Others might recommend mfx decoders (but changing load regulation parameters with a Mobile Station won't be easy).
And others will recommend other brands ...
