i am planning the signals of my new layout, and I will have sections that are "DB", 'OBB', and 'SBB'. The DB signals (Viessmannbiggrin) will do for OBB, but where can I find SBB light signals? confused
The pictures I have seen show about 5+ (too many to count) lights on each mast, so I will also need information on how to do the wiring.

Hi,
I'm new to this forum, although I've been watching it for quite some time.
Reading the forum discussions has rekindled my interest in Märklin and I'm planning to make a layout based on the Swiss example in the near future.
But to the point now, this site might be the one you're looking for:http://www.microscale.ch

Greetings Guus
Kind regards,
Guus

Oh nice... Maybe I should drop the plan to convert the old 7188s to the new marklin signals?

There is also a company in Hungary who make Swiss signallight called Alphamodell, i don't think they have any internetsite, but if you search for it in the net, maybe you can find some shops who have it?

McLae,
LDT, Littfinski Datentechnik,
http://www.ldt-infocente...english/home_frame_e.htm
has SBB signal decoders for DCC/Motorola.

To xxup (Adrian is correct?):
SBB is running leftside so, the new Maerklin signals can hardly be used.

Manfred

McLae:

Had this site bookmarked for future use...haven't dealt with them yet (we haven't progressed to the SBB portion of our layout yet).

Thanks Manfred - I never knew that.. While I am confident that the new Marklin signals can be placed on the left side, they clearly look nothing like the SBB signals..

The prices of the Microscale signals etc seem very high compared to Marklin and Viessmann. The beautiful signal bridge is over A$400. The Finance Director will choke on that price.. It also seems strange to use a K84 to control the signal..

For Swiss and Austrian signal descriptions, see my favorite site:
http://web.utanet.at/smiderkr/index.html

It is a matter of taste whether you use k84 or other decoders, but you will need a couple of them for each SBB signal.
The Littfinski dedicated signal decoders a very efficient and cheap when using complicated signals.

Thank you for all the replies.

I have been trying to contact Miamitrains.com to get a Microscale price quote, but the e-mail is bounced back.[:(] (Microscale lists them as a dealer/agent) Anyone know how to contact them?

I have checked that carefully. The answer is that the new Maerklin signals CANNOT work on the left hand side [xx(][xx(]. That is why I have chosen Viessmann's (in Portugal trains run on the left too).

Cheers,

Nuno Smile

The Viessmann light signals are run with either K84 or k83 + relay. Only the 'hobby' (or M-7188) signals have built-in relays. The old Marklin light signals ran this way also (I think from the manual, never had one).

Not so strange after all. Except for the signals with 7 leds for Haupt., plus 5 leds for the Vor....[:p]
