Hi All:

I'm unpacking my dad's Marklin HO set from long ago (1970s) to try to make my son's 3rd Christmas a special one (he's really into trains). Have the train going around in a loop, and now want to try a basic switch. I'm trying to hook up up the control plate (marklin 7072) so I can do a basic switch, but the set seems to be missing the brown wire from the 7072 unit to the transformer (I was able to hook up and power the switch from another post, but can't control it from the 7072 unit without this wire). How do I go about procuring or crafting a "brown connector wire" to make this work?

Apologize in advance for my "Green-ness", and thank you in advance for any help!

-Kent

Colour doesn't matter, so you can take wire of any colour and small banana plugs of any colour and make the connection. Or maybe even use a cable with alligator clips.
Or for a test even hold the blank end of a wire to the connection of the 7072 or touch the rails with a blank side connector of the 7072.

The different colours help to set-up and maintain a layout. Therefore it's good to use the "correct" colours.
But you decide when to improvise.
Regards
Tom

Tom:

Thanks so much for the help! I have extra connectors lying around, so I'll try to put something together. Electricity isn't my strong suit, so I didn't want to burn anything up!

BTW, this is a great site. There are some impressive layouts out there!
